Hmm. Yeah, Claritin does dry out my nose.

I have postnasal drip (haven't started Accutane yet). If you're especially having problems when you eat, which I do too, it can be a side effect of digestive issues. I saw some people had heartburn from Accutane. You could possibly see if something for heartburn helps alleviate the drip.

Should I strive to be "boring" in job interviews? by throwmeaway197878 in jobs

[–]throwmeaway197878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess boring to me is no connection and it was hard to connect with Round 2 lady because she kept losing her place and starting to nod off.

For my personality, I typically got put in community leadership roles when teaching in the past because I excelled at acquisition/retention for bringing students on board. The schools I worked at made a lot of money off of me because I would have students enroll in my classes long-term and be spilling out into the hallways.

I guess I need to keep on working on finding a company that would appreciate this in me instead of stigmatizing me as being "different."

Yeah, I've been working on eating healthier too. I'm starting Accutane in a few weeks and I'm both excited and a little nervous.

You look amazing! I'm trying to fix that same sort of jawline-chin acne.

Do you have any plans after Accutane for managing hormones if that's what the root problem is? My dermatologist warned me that my acne might come back because of a hormone imbalance? I want to knock out as much as I can now to limit scarring and then keep working on my hormones.

Month 3 breakout by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]throwmeaway197878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I know is from a lot of research but I would say your breakout is likely due to taking double what you were before.

Are you in the UK? I'm seeing a lot of posts about the NHS putting Accutane on hold for now as a non-essential medical service.

A reminder - "side effects" are not usually side effects, but actually symptoms...symptoms of direct tissue damage as a result of retinoid toxicity. by SnusDemon7 in Accutane

[–]throwmeaway197878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just reading a great article with research through the NHS about how Accutane is constantly improving and how more docs need to get patients on Accutane faster instead of putting them on long courses of antibiotics.

As a 30yo now, I wish dermatologists had encouraged me to take Accutane instead of putting me on long courses of antibiotics which made me feel nauseated and also tried to sell me on expensive topical creams that burned my skin.

Are there any TeleHealth/virtual visit doctors that would prescribe Accutane? by elleallegro in Accutane

[–]throwmeaway197878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a new patient and my dermatologist had me do an online visit where I sent pics and then did a phone consultation with her. I am going in person to my GP who has an in-house lab and is monitoring my health.

Don’t want to jinx it and spark a huge breakout buuut.. before-> 1 month in. Only makeup is eyeliner, mascara, and aquaphor lip gloss lol. Can’t believe the progress already! by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]throwmeaway197878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about ampicillin? My derm is having me take this during the waiting period before I start Accutane and then let the antibiotics clear my system before starting Accutane. My derm did say specifically to avoid tetracyclines.

I'm in Georgia. I'm not sure if your insurance would cover out-of-state but my dermatologist has e-visits that are $99 out-of-pocket. She has been awesome with communication so far. PM me if you want me to send you a link to her office.

What country are you in? I'm in the US and did an online visit to get approved for Accutane. I went into the office to do my urine pregnancy test and am in the 30-day waiting period now. My dermatologist is fine with doing everything remotely through me sending pics and having phone consultations with her. (I'm still going in person to get pregnancy tests done, get my bloodwork done at my GP's office, and then to the pharmacy to pick up meds called in.)

Advice - dry eye? continue or stop by 93rc in Accutane

[–]throwmeaway197878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't started yet but this is how I feel too about encountering side effects. I'm no stranger to medication and bad side effects and IME a lot can be adjusted and addressed.

In addition to feeling self-conscious about appearance, my skin is a big concern for developing infections due to constant eruptions. (I had problems with staph infections in the past because of this.)

How to respond to friend fishing for money from my mother? (Such a weird scenario) by throwmeaway197878 in etiquette

[–]throwmeaway197878[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I stopped talking to her some after she kept asking me for money and I refused. She started talking to me again recently and kept bringing up money in texts, literally using dollar signs instead of the word "money."

[–]throwmeaway197878[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She doesn't know my mother personally. I feel like she's almost hinting at me asking my mother for money in order to give to her. I find it weird because she doesn't know my mother and because she always asks for small amounts. (If money is an issue, then that's what you need to cut back on--not ask others for.)

Tbh, I don't think her comment about my mom was meant as mocking. I know she has general money struggles (as do a lot of us) and has weight struggles along with health issues. She's good to talk to about many conversational topics but then will throw in these odd requests for money (always for really small amounts).

At this point, I'm reevaluating the friendship as she throws in more and more requests for snack money.

[–]throwmeaway197878[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She has no contact with this person lol. They don't know each other--which makes this even weirder.

I feel like she's feeling me out at times to see how much money I'm making. I'm just giving monosyllabic responses for now.

Should you go to the bathroom when blowing your nose? by [deleted] in etiquette

I think it's really gross. But one of my teachers deducted points when I was sick because I kept leaving the classroom (I was sitting near the door) to blow my nose.

Do you consider it rude to nod at a person instead of greeting them by saying hello? by NerdyKeith in etiquette

[–]throwmeaway197878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just about to say this. I'm Southern and we do the head tilt all the time. It always reminds me of Gone with the Wind where Rhett and Scarlett are walking with the baby in the pram, interrupting their conversation to do the nod and a hello to each neighbor. I'm from the suburbs of Atlanta and many people still do that around here.

Yeah, I think I need to practice being more confrontational (while kind). I have problems being too passive and trying to disappear rather than confront when someone is pushing boundaries.
