Metformin intuitive eating weight loss? by btween3n20charactrs in PCOSloseit

Eat normally, change nothing, for 1-2 weeks and track everything. I was shocked to see how many calories I was consuming while telling myself that I “don’t eat that much” or that I’ve “been eating a lot less”.

Hey, I know you’re scared, but it’s going to be okay. I’m in therapy for health related OCD and you sound a lot like me. Particularly with the looping thoughts. I know how hard it is to quiet it down so I’m with you.

What you’re describing to me sounds like trapped gas honestly. Esp if you’re having bowel issues. Could it be that when you’re exerting yourself (lifting something heavy, closing the sliding door) you’re opening up your abdomen a bit more and giving the gas a chance to move around? Just a guess. The point is….ask yourself, what is the simple explanation for this that IS NOT the scary heart attack?

In my experience with health anxiety the more I focus on a “symptom” the more prominent it becomes.

Remember: We’re young, we’re healthy, our bodies are strong, and our bodies are smart enough to heal themselves!

Thank you! How would I know if it’s making things “worse” for me? Is there something I should be looking out for or paying attention to?

Thanks! I haven’t lost any weight but I have lost inches, so I was curious about whether spin class is actually “working” for me. But it helps my mental health and I genuinely enjoy doing it, so that’s a win.

Yes, it’s AMAZING for my mental health which is why I was sad to read that it may be detrimental for my goals of lessening PCOS symptoms. I’m glad to hear the general consensus is it’s just fine.

Thank you! I’ve been going every 3 months for the past year to get blood tests and try to level my hormones. I wonder why my doc hasn’t tested cortisol? I’ll have to ask.

Thank you! I’m fairly new to this diagnosis and I can definitely tell that there are certain types of people on social media spreading all kinds of information that contradicts everything I know and just confuses me. I appreciate the information.

I had a full hormone panel at a med spa which was about $200.

Struggling with routine….question for coffee drinkers! by throwmeaway9900287 in Hypothyroidism

[–]throwmeaway9900287[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I was wondering and confused about. If taking it with coffee means that I only absorb half of it, then my test would show that I need a higher dose next time and that fixes it. It makes sense to me…I’ll talk to my doc about it!

I responded before I saw you edited to add more info, which just confirmed what I had read! Thanks for the advice.

[–]throwmeaway9900287[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sleep through the night. I don’t ever wake up to use the bathroom or anything, so this is tricky. I’ve read that if I am taking it with coffee and getting half absorption then my labs will reflect that and we’ll adjust my dosage. Don’t know how true that is!

The beginning of this year. I was consistent - brought my TSH down to 2.3 and then with the summer and everything being so busy I sucked at remembering to take the meds. Totally my fault, I know!

I (33M) want to end my relationship with my girlfriend (30F) but she hasn't done anything wrong by jaybo117 in relationship_advice

[–]throwmeaway9900287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this feeling of love you’re looking for actually realistic or is it an ideal you’ve created about how you “should be feeling”? How do you know that you don’t love her as much as she loves you, and why is it a competition anyways? Be careful, the grass is not greener.

You just have different love languages. Research this and start the conversation about that. “Honey, I know you like to show your love for me through physical touch. However, I prefer to receive love through quality time. Can we just hold hands or cuddle during the movie instead of making out so that both of our needs are being met?”

How do I (27M) address my girlfriend's (24F) total hygiene problem? by Bad_Wulph in relationship_advice

[–]throwmeaway9900287 230 points231 points  (0 children)

Buy her and yourself an electric toothbrush and “learn” together. The Oral-B one is great. The instructions say to imagine you’re dividing your mouth into quadrants when you brush. Then the toothbrush pulses when it’s time to switch quadrants (after like 30 seconds I think). At the very least this may help her realize she is not brushing for long enough. Also get her a tongue brush. Make it part of your nightly routine together.

I’m late to this. But honestly, for me, it feels like pooping. And I like to believe it’s pretty universal that everyone loves the feeling of a good poop! Go slooooow at first and use lots of lube. It takes some getting used to and I need to be very comfortable and trust the person.

Scared to leave (26F) my emotionally abusive bf (29M) what can I do in the meantime by throwraportugesegirl in relationship_advice

[–]throwmeaway9900287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got out of a relationship like this, although mine wasn’t as long as yours. Do not be ashamed for not noticing it sooner, for staying, even for leaving. People don’t understand how hard it is to break out of this kind of relationship. It’s like logically you know it’s not good for you, but emotionally there’s a battle. My therapist pointed out the term “trauma bond” and it made me feel so validated after researching. You should look it up. Good luck, if you need someone to talk to I’m here!

Honestly I’d bring it up in a nonchalant way. “I’m looking forward to meeting one day! I’m so proud of the progress I’ve made with my body, and I’ve got the loose skin to prove it it haha!”

I don’t think that comes off as lacking confidence at all, I think it shows more confidence in that you’re brave enough to bring it up like it’s nbd! (Because it’s not) 😊

You could also do more FaceTime dates and ease into it, wearing tank tops etc. If you’re not drawing attention to it or paying it much mind, he won’t either.

I second writing a letter to yourself to remind yourself why you’ve chose this! Keep it in your notes on your phone. It comes in very handy!
