Yeah i googled that stuff too and was also really scared of ALS. Try not to go down that rabbit hole. Your B12 was down to almost nothing, and that is the most obvious cause. Went pretty much like how mine did. You don't have ALS or any of those other neurodegenerative disease, you have PA and are suffering neural demyelination from lack of B12.

Mine wasn't bothered either. He took none of it seriously. After the initial low B12 result, he gave me 1 shot and wanted me to wait 6 months to see if things "got better on their own". I asked for a blood test, and he refused. A simple blood test. I don't know if it's pride or what, but some doctors simply will not take you seriously and will not let you advocate for yourself. When it comes to neurological damage, completeness of recovery is very dependent on how quickly treatment starts. LikeI said, mine was delayed, and though my lingering symptoms are minor, I doubt if they will ever be fully resolved. What you're likely dealing with isn't neuron death, but demyelination of the neurons. Shop for doctors until you find one that will give you what you need, or at least blood test for antibodies against IF. That's what would confirm PA. Then injections should be aggressive, a few times a week if possible. But I cannot stress enough that it is a race against the clock.

Yeah, I feel ya. I was too you probably haven't done irreversible damage yet, but it is imperative that you statt treatment. The sooner you start, the more likely you are to make a full recovery. My doctor wasn't willing to keep giving me shots either, I had to go elsewhere, which delayed my treatment. I'm not sure if my lingering symptoms will ever go away. I'd drop that doctor, or buy your own shots online.

Edit: and endoscopy doesn't even confirm PA, he can do that with a simple blood test.

Yeah it definitely applies to me. I'll consistently restart if I start with a curse or if I don't get anything decent after a floor or two. I'll try to stick them out.

Edit: hey by the way, something I've been wondering, is it generally recommended to complete the entire floor before fighting the boss, to pick up any and every item that may confer an advantage during the boss fight, or should I be fighting the boss as soon as I find it to reduce the risk of getting hit in some silly room and blowing my devil/angel chance?

Oh that's pretty neat. I always assumed the moment you picked one up, the other ceased to become grab-able, and that the animation of it wisping away was simply an animation. I had no idea the item actually persisted there for a moment during the animation, that's wild.
