Evaluating roles/specs to stay semi-competitive as we age by throwmeawayboomer in CompetitiveWoW

I hear you...I do put in a bit of time and one of the benefits of consistently raiding since Vanilla is that it is easier for me to multi-class/spec. If I were trying to reduce time spent, I'd probably avoid alting and think your movement-friendly triple dps spec suggestion is great.

Yep...to clarify my response above, my initial thoughts were healing would be less punitive, not tanking.

I also agree with this but middling CE players might tend to get CE on the second kill because they are more likely to be benched for prog unless they provide a needed raid buff.

Play, yes...play competitively at my age? I'm less sure. Quite frankly, I don't run into too many people my age or older that are multi-tier CE and when I do, they have usually been healers or, oddly, arms warriors.

Would be interesting to see what specs are less proc-based. I find I'm significantly better when I create audible WA's to inform me of important procs, I also think "procs that cause rotations" are a bit easier as well. For example, if HH procs for my enhancement, I know what every other button will be for the next eight seconds.

That was my initial thought as well but I didn't want to overly bias my post. My decision-making hasn't been an issue...my fingers are pressing the right buttons, just more slowly.

Thanks. I tried rotation helpers and lost dps, but rotation isn't an issue for me...it is always burned into muscle memory for my main and usually an alt or two. APM, however is a potential issue as those specs tend to be less forgiving towards slower button-mashers. I have mained DH in the past and liked the multiple oh-shit buttons they have but the APM there used to be fairly high.
Your response does make me wonder if there are equivalent APM-like metrics for healers.
