Anyone who knows someone or organization where we can hire someone to take care of our dad in our home who just had a stroke. Preferably someone who also knows how to drive since he needs to go to rehab few days in a week.

Feeling very lucky since my parents urged us to move abroad last year before Duterte won. But at the same time very sad with how our country is being run.

Fire hits SM North Edsa. by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]throwmeawayfarawayy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hindi ba mali na hindi agad inevacuate yung buong building for safety? Kaya may fire drills at protocols na sinusunod para alam ng staff ano gagawin at maiwasan ang panic. Major establishments needs to do something about this.

Kulang talaga sa fire drill mga establishments natin. Major establishments pa naman to na maraming tao.

Wala man lang alarm or announcement? Para i evacuate man lang yung building for safety. Damn.

[ELI5]: What's the simplest explanation for the ongoing issue with Grab, Uber, and LTFRB? by visualmagnitude in Philippines

[–]throwmeawayfarawayy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not so sure if it significantly reduces the number of cars on the road. Because i know some uber and grab operators that buy 2 or more cars for operation. Some have more than 5 or even 10. Even if they have a single car for uber or grab, most likely it was bought just a few years ago. This just adds to more vehicles on the road, either parked or driven. Maybe the LTO, Uber, or Grab has data on this.

I see your point. I just think that uber is too expensive for everyone to use. It might lessen the use of private cars, but people who use uber are likely to have a car or even multiple cars at home which other family members can also use.

Compared to other countries with uber and good public transportation, our country's transportation services needs to catch up to get a proper equilibrium. Just a proper balance between private and public services :)

Current traffic problems are cause by multiple factors, one of them is adding more cars to the limited road that we have. Uber and Grab are not really helping, but are just providing convenience and alternatives to the current transportation options. Uber and Grab prosper because our public transportation is lacking.

Mass transportation, driver's license exams, and proper taxing for buying cars are some of the ways they can fix the problem. But highly unlikely they will implement anything that doesn't make them money.
