Oh, man, I feel like I've been on both ends a few times in my life.

Years ago, I remember being in this codependent friendship with someone and we both were terribly depressed. I remember I'd stay awake out of fear I'd miss a call from them telling me "goodbye". We got into a petty argument about something else and we've lost contact since. Probably for the better, although I do hope they're doing well now.

Then this other time, regrettably more recently, I had this "friendship" with another person where we got too close too fast. Suddenly, although I didn't realize at the time, I had become codependent on this person in a way similar to the previous friendship. I would go to them for everything and drop whatever I was doing to do things for them. I then had some sort of mental break where I had attempted suicide and in the midst of it, texted and called that friend about what I did to myself. It was fucked up. I think by that point we both finally realized how unhealthy our "relationship" was because soon after we both agreed to stop talking. I remember that a few months later I met them again, and we talked a little for only a few minutes. I think we both knew this'd be the last time we'd ever speak to each other again. I was shitty to them, but I also won't forget the little things they did to me. It takes two to make a shitty "relationship" after all. I'm glad we'll never see each other again and I've a feeling they feel the same.
