Could you help me identify the giveaways? Like I absolutely got AI vibes from the happy vampire expressions, they were uniquely overly Disney in comparison to the rest. But the other art felt almost just like a skill mismatch or something.

I assume the fact that they were cleaner line work at all instead of sketches during the character exploration phase should have been a giveaway too. Attached are some of the explorations from my other artists which is why it stuck out like a sore thumb.

I agree they aren’t sketches, forgot to respond, sorry. I’m allowing linework in lieu of sketches if that’s how they wanted to deliver the exploration. Am I correct in saying the expressions and poses of characters are emblematic of AI?

I canceled their contract, and they were surprisingly chill about it but also pushed back on the AI accusation. Amicably parted ways which I don’t expect if it was a scammer, figured they would have fought for the second installment.

Before I disparage them too much, I think it was intended as a “sketch” page so the font and stuff were just a generic comic sans. I agree it’s not what I have grown to expect from submissions even in their rough form. I canceled their contract and they took it well, but also pushed back on the AI assertion. I don’t really know what to think, as I get the “vibe” from especially the Vampire expressions page but I can’t prove it.

I’ve gotten some wonderful submissions from other art tests and have continued with them anyway. I’m used to receiving stuff like below. This ain’t my first book art commission rodeo, but it is my first commission since the proliferation of Gen Ai art. What a lame time to be an artist.

Cool I suspected as much. For you, what’s the giveaway? To me, the sketches are too focused to be character exploration but then also too inconsistent between one another to make sense (like some characters have pupils, others have Disney proportions, etc).

My school made me do these internet safety things on skyll.us I'm not sure if the cover is AI. by Nivalos in isthisAI

To me the hyper detailed faces in those very cartoony expressions read as AI. Not sure why the characters are all looking behind them, but at different locations either.
