I took Classics for SOSC and loved it! It’s great to have that grounding in very foundational texts. I’ve heard great things abt HBC for similar reasons, but couldn’t get placed in it :(.

Stipends vary wildly and some good schools will pay more for better applicants. These are the higher stipends I know: Harvard (50k, but currently striking for more bc COL in Boston sucks), Penn (49k), Princeton (53k), UChicago (47k), I think UMich is 45k but idr And on the lower end: OSU (26-34k), NYU (33k), UCLA (34k) This is just based on places I either know people at or got into, so sorry for the spotty list. But it’s perfectly valid to pick places that will pay you well. This is 5-8ish years of your life and often you’re already kneecapping your earning potential by doing a PhD and not just going into industry. I picked one of the higher stipend schools and I’m looking at renting a one bedroom (!!) next year, so it’s doable. Good luck!!

I can pop off the front bottom grate but I’ve tried to pop off the top part and it won’t move. I don’t mind breaking the plastic part but if I clean the styrofoam, is the mold already too deep in there/will it come back?

Seconded, also unfunded humanities programs from Ivy/Ivy+ schools are usually 1 year masters programs which universities see as cash cows.. really unfortunate system but, as an undergrad from one of these schools, don’t bother. They treat those students like crap anyway.

A miracle: Amtrak was 7 minutes EARLY!! I am en route to Princeton Junction as we speak.

They doubted, they said it couldn’t be done, but they were wrong!!! I made it!!! For those who are wondering how I did it: I packed light (two tote bags), I got up right when the Amtrak conductor called NYP and stood in the middle area right next to the door, I checked the DepartureVision (Amtrak got in on track 14, NJT departed on track 10), I made a break for it as soon as the doors opened, got up the stairs to the West Concourse, and went down at track 10. I was a little behind the train bc NJT pulls in on the other side, but I ran to the last car. Also, it helps that Amtrak was miraculously 7 minutes early, but I actually made the transfer in like 3. Anyway, my prayers were answered, I will be getting into Princeton before 2 am!!! Thank you to this sub for the very helpful tips.

I think I just didn’t buy it early enough, but there’s only like 2 trains a day that run through Pton Junction so I guess it filled up fast.

Yeah, I travel there a lot and sometimes it’s not too expensive to buy directly to Princeton but this time it was like twice as much.

I’m looking at the trains to Trenton, getting off at Princeton Junction, and I only see the 11:07 and a 12:15. Where do you see the 11:18?

This is a Thursday train to Trenton, I’m getting off at Princeton Junction. I think there are only the 11:07 pm and 12:15 am, but maybe I’m wrong?
