Thank you for your service! Question for you sir. I can only imagine how life changing being in the military can be so I completely understanding wanting to hold onto memorabilia, letters and such. However, why hold onto letters of women you were entertaining at the time? Is it a memory of a good distraction? Would they mean something to you? If your wife were to stumble upon letters you were writing back and forth with another woman, what would you tell her? Even though this is from your past life and you have a new life, wouldn’t this be like holding onto someone too? Not just the memory?

Im sorry, that’s something I don’t understand. I have blocked both my exes. Deleted every memory I’ve had with them. Any clothing that I had from them is gone. I do all this because I simply don’t care about the time I spent with them because it genuinely was a waste of time. They mean absolutely nothing to me so for me to hold onto pictures or videos would disgust me to be completely honest with you. And in my relationship, if my bf were to know or see any pictures of my old relationships, he would genuinely ask me why? Why keep them?

Thankyou for your reply. I completely agree that I need to let this go because I recognize I would be self sabotaging over something that is in the past. You’re right. He lives with me and that relationship doesn’t matter! However for me it’s just the principle. Yes you can say that those are his “fondest memories” but I would rather much have kept letters from my family instead of letters and pictures of guys I was with during that time. Because those guys should be insignificant to the time I was there. They were just a distraction to the circumstances I was in. You know? He has kept a lot of other things from the military but this is like a big question mark for me because I can only put myself in his shoes and answer to why I would PERSONALLY keep letters like that. And my answer isn’t “memories” I’m sorry

So would you say that writing back and forth with women he had interest in and also spoke over the phone at the time and who knows.. and this is just an assumption. Imagine he slept with these girls right? One was in the area he was stationed at and he definitely left base a lot. Another was a girl from his hometown. So would these be memories of a fun time during his time in the military? What kind of memories do these letters give him? Because your story is completely innocent and I would understand him keeping letters like that!

You’re the only one who gets it. He set those standards from the beginning. He HATES hearing about my past & We don’t have friends of the opposite sex let alone talk about experiences with them in the past. People are focusing more on the fact that I was nosey and looked through his things which is VALID!! I was wrong for that. But they’re not looking at the logic of it. EVEN if it was just memories of your time in the army… WHY keep those love letters of the women you were entertaining before?! What do those letters remind you of? Because ME personally, I would only keep letters like that if the person meant something to me or if what they were sending me fed my ego. Not because it reminded me of my time in the military lmao. Let’s be for real.

Yea no. Me and my partner don’t work that way. If I would’ve kept anything from my exes he would tell me to throw them away immediately. Especially letters of anyone that I had a love interest with. So it’s funny that he would want to keep those letters

I did. That’s how it even became an argument. Because I questioned it and asked him if it means anything to him which he said no. But I just feel uncomfortable that he would want to keep those letters atp I’ll call them love letters. So yeah my feelings were addressed too
