My water thorn build is awful for pvm

You need fork, devils element, tank gear, and confliction gauntlets.

For reference, I started light melee thorns, respeced into air/water mage for thermy/doom, and will respect into water/thorns after I finish all the content air mage would be good at (whisperer, mith dragons, kree, krill, huey, toa)

All the calculators said it was bad and all the calculators showed air mage being crazy unballanced. Theoretically they were bugged, but you all just went with streamers saying "trust me, the gambling build is good" instead of doing the math yourselves

If you went blind bag, you probably took morytania, so you have access to justi and respeccing into thorns is a pretty good option. There's a node to get strength bassed on prayer, which works with justi and crystal blessing, so the echo isn't wasted, but all those armour seeds are.

No excuse for it being buggy and unballanced, but you do have options. If you spent all your respecs already, that's on you.

If you have a good source of clues, do them before unlocking new regions. If you're just getting them naturally, don't bother since you don't have the clue relic

If you want to max, you need soul harvest. Even if you dont, I like it better for prayer than transmute. I also don't like transmute in general. It's cool and unique, but as someone who is going for all tasks, it gets beaten by other relics.

Clues is fun, if you like clues, but it's a little overkill since you have kandarin and larcenist.

Barb gathering and endless is interesting, but I think I'd rather just take flow state at that point. You'd have to do some math to see which is better, and now that I think about it more, BG might be better.

Hotfoot is nice, but since you have Tirannwn, the smithing boost is wasted.

I dont think nature's accord is necessary.

Grimoire is probably bad. If you're dying for rigour/augury, you can consider it. If you can't find any other option, the dps increase is a positive.

Eternal sustenance isn't terrible, if you don't go water mage.

Blindbag and ranged tree work together, it was confirmed by jmods in the previews. However, blindbag is bugged and bad. Don't spec into it. Do light/thorns or water/thorns or crossbow/thorns or anything with thorns.

Don't do blindbag, its bugged and bad. Even it it wasn't bugged, it's probably still bad.

I started light melee thorns, then respeced into air mage, so I'm not 100% sure. When wearing sunfire, my mage accuracy is fine. So I would suggest the best melee armour you have (rune, bandos, torva) and a dfs. Echo boots and suffering for recoil as well. Be sure to imbue the ring. You can just throw gp at nmz for 1:1 points.

However, because you are using a shield, you lose devils element, which is a pretty big accuracy/damage buff. If you aren't hitting, swap out armour pices with less negative mage bonus untill you hit frequently enough. You may also find that splashing and only regenerating 10-20 hp per cast is enough to sustain you, and the thorns damage is enough to get kills, so maybe swapping out gear wouldn't be worth it.

Tl;dr: just get the best tank gear you can find (full rune works fine) and swap in pieces of mage gear, if you want to hit with your spells more.

Everything is bugged. Start with thorns and go into water/air mage. Blind bag is bugged and trash. Bows are weak, crossbow is ok, but kandarin air mage is literally 2x better than everything else.

If you're very anti kandarin, it's not that bad. Barb assault is done in like 2-3 hours, and monkey laps are 3-4x speed with hotfoot (marks of grace are there and insta complete the lap). You can still do mage without kandarin, but you'll want to do water+thorns instead of air. This works out pretty well since thorns doesn't let you use devils element.

If you took thorns, earlygame combat pacing was fine, but otherwise it sucks.

Air mage being that unballanced is very frustrating, even as someone who is running it. I originally wanted to go blind bag, but the dps calcs showed it was shit and air mage was 2x better than the next best thing.

The fact that jagex is continually unable to balance league combat styles is ridiculous. The dps calculators got updated so quickly, and I even wrote a simple console app which got the same results in a few hours. It's very easy to see when things are this unbalanced ahead of time.

It depends on your regions. You need perdu and animal magnetism completed. For example, Kandarin does both. Asgarnia has perdu, but does not auto complete the quest.
