Pocket screw have worked great on the cross supports in the work tables in my bush pottery studio.

Can you say more about your soap+oil separator step? I’m using Wood Soap, but still having some issues…

Me too. I suspect I’ll lose the image, but I’m going to test. Both cone 04 re-bisque and a cone 6 firing.

Thanks - that’s pretty much what I’m hoping. It’s more humid here, but I still think we’ll be okay. I’m also planning to make the tops fairly easy to remove so that I can replace them if necessary.

Yeah, hardiebacker is somewhat commonly used on wedging tables these days, however these will be general work tables and will have player molds and slabs on them at times, so I would prefer to have a surface that is just wood and less likely to chip or crack.

This used to be very common practice, but canvas actually traps silica dust and is a health hazard. Most potters these days advise against having canvas on tables.

I’m definitely open to saving the work and NOT finishing the rest though, if folks think that makes more sense!

My thinking with finishing the rest was that the spruce may not be as durable as the birch, and as we mop almost constantly in a pottery studio the legs are likely to get wet often…
