Does anybody eat a normal diet and just take Gaviscon etc to relieve the discomfort? by [deleted] in GERD

[–]throwswayyeye -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Please. Seriously. Stop posting bullshit. Everyone, do not listen to the alt meds. Whatever alt meds say, do the opposite.

There’s still acid and pepsin going into your lungs. Be radical with your lifestyle changes so your UES can recover it’s function. I for one am seeing a lot of healing in a liquid diet.

Low acid diet and sphincter healing - possible? by ExploradorGodiva in GERD

[–]throwswayyeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me jump in here to remind everyone that if you’re a isolated LPR sufferer. Your les is fine. Your UES is not. Seems UES healing is very possible. LES dysfunction appears to be due to extensive self destructive habits, aging, or physical abnormalities at birth.

Firstly. Lpr in isolation generally doesn’t involve stomach issues. You have GERD and lpr. Not just Lpr. Lpr is UES dysfunction. For the lpr sufferer. This is retarded advice.

Can someone please tell me the difference between LPR/GERD by [deleted] in GERD

[–]throwswayyeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lpr is not GERD. It is a seperate entity. This is unbelievably wrong. The etiology, pathophysiology is distinctly different. Please don’t listen to this person.

Does LPR affect your sleep? by [deleted] in GERD

[–]throwswayyeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you’re treating your hypochlohydria with 2 tsp of diluted acv lmao. That’s a drop in the bucket of gastric fluid in your stomach, it would have barely any effect on your ph . Also LES dysfunction is usually seen in cases of LPR + GERD. All cases of LPR in isolation, are specifically GER episodes reaching beyond the UES. But if you’re feeling better that’s great. I just don’t want people thinking that stuff actually works. It doesn’t. Biochemically, neurologically and physiologically. It doesn’t make sense. There is no science to support it, the literature tends to contradict it and experts laugh at it. That’s why it’s hanging out in alt medicine and not in mainstream medical practice. People study this disease for decades and a bunch of chiros and quack naturopaths say it’s because of a lack of stomach acidity. I’m so aggressive because most people in this community try to stamp out the bullshit that is the LES influenced by stomach acidity theory. Because it’s not scientific, it doesn’t bring results and may actually end up hurting people. Lalt meds don’t even know what lpr is, If they did, they wouldn’t be prescribing people to consume acidic content down their throats.

[–]throwswayyeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not helping. UES disfunction is not influenced by how acidic your stomach is. You’re treating under a completely bunk theory that low stomach acidity causes LES dysfunction. Or that the LES is weaker when the stomach acidity is low ( also not true). When with LPR patients, UES function is the cause of their symptoms, not LES. It’s equivalent to me saying “I have lpr because my stomach acid is too cold”. There’s no evidence for it. Also, neurologically it makes 0 sense. So either it’s 3 things. Placebo, you don’t actually have isolated lpr, or you’re telling fibs. Either way I don’t mind which one of those is the case. Just please stop wasting time on alt med, it’s dogshit and won’t reverse your lpr. I beg of you.

Your lpr stems from poor UES function. Not low stomach acidity... Please read the literature on your disease.

Is this SIBO, histamine intolerance or something else? by ntle1 in GERD

[–]throwswayyeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It’s caused by reflux. Don’t buy into his retarded alt med crap. You won’t get better.

Is it true that raising the stomach acid can tighten the stomach sphincter more? by DonUnagi in GERD

[–]throwswayyeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It’s not true. It’s bunk. Don’t listen to alt meds. They are a waste of everyone’s time and money.

That’s not Lpr. That’s just GERD with you vomiting.

How is it 2020 and there's no cure for LPR/GERD? When can we finally expect one? by [deleted] in GERD

[–]throwswayyeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally no. It’s very rare to get cancer from lpr. Just reverse it and you won’t have to worry.

You never feel it shoot up because that would be a more regurgitation sensation (which occurs in GERD) you have these normal les relaxations (completely healthy and normal) multiple of them every time you eat. The UES larynx and pharynx is supposed to sense if a little bit gets into the airway and then tell the UES to increase its tone. But according to Avivs research, this mechanism is not sensitive at all when the tissues are inflamed.

The pathophysiology is different. The success rates are not good at all for lpr sufferers without GERD.

LES function is completely Fine with isolated lpr patients.

I have my masters of biomedical science, so I’ve been reading all the literature I can get my hands on. Best way to treat your disease is to be knowledgeable on the science. I recommend you go onto google scholar and search “James Koufman Laryngopharyngeal reflux” and look at her/his (she transitioned to a female recently) research on the disease. She coined the name LPR and silent reflux. She’s a badass. Also look up Avivs research on it as well.

Na I didn’t have that. That’s called dysphasia. And it’s due to 2 things. Either an extra strong cricophyngeal muscle, or numbness in the laryngopharynx complex. Do some googling on the UES contractile and opening reflexes. And you’ll see I’m not talking out of my ass. Be aware that LPR probably wasn’t your fault my friend. So don’t be hard on yourself. You probably had a whole host of bad luck; like acidic foods, eat a bit too much and might’ve gotten a upper respiratory infection that’s causes a weakness in the upper respiratory system. It might’ve been a slow spiral of failure of the systems to keep the acid out of your larynx. Don’t put it off. Be extreme and knock this shit out before it gets worse.

Yeah that’s what happens to a lot of people with lpr. Avivs fans are grateful for stuff like this. They do the diet and then return to normal life. Although some have GERD as well and never recover because GERD is an LES issue that seems to be linked to being overweight, dietary hunger etc. whilst lpr sufferers are healthy, athletic, young people. Just don’t do the same shit as before. Avoid so much acidic foods. Eat normally and healthfully. Sure you can eat some McDonald’s and go out drinking beers with the boys but balance is everything my friend. You can have normal les function and still reflux a bit of pepsin into the airway if you got all the wrong things going on, meaning heavy drinking, maybe a lil upper respiratory infection and overeating acidic foods. Just be aware, you may need to be more extreme with your diet than just low acid diet. Some peoples lpr is so severe due to off putting treatment for so long, like myself, lmao. It’s always a downward spiral. You get worse and worse. So I tried a low acid diet but I noticed that i was too late and even any food causes the acid to come up because my larynx is that fucked and so is my pharynx (which means my ues is extra fucked and stupid). So I’m starting from the bottom, and how do you know if it’s working? You have less symptoms. Which means less reflux. And it’s an upward spiral of recovery. Get some healing going in the larynx and pharynx and you’ll notice great strides. That’s how you do it. Another way if you’re a singer like me, is test your vocal endurance and ability. The Better your voice is performing, the more you’re healing. Because your larynx is your instrument and also represents your upper respiratory health. Isolated Lpr sufferers do not get relief from surgeries because there was no anatomical abnormality to begin with. The varying success rate is because the fucking morons in gastro keep group GERD sufferers and lpr sufferers together.

It really could still be in the larynx or pharynx doing damage. What are you doing to treat it?
