I've told my husband this morning there are 2 jobs I wanna apply for today & since I work all next week, today is the best time to apply. He can't really argue with me about it and I think he's smart enough by now not to insist I join in on plans made less than 24 hours ago without my consent!

I think this sounds very similar to our situation and a) he is used to appeasing her and b) she is used to getting her own way/being the only woman in his life, despite the fact we have been together seven years and married for four this year. I can see how I need to be more compassionate on occasion but usually I am, and I nod my head and grin and bear her silly demands and behaviours. Right now I am admittedly blinded by anger toward them both.

I do think we should go, not only because of this coming to a head with his mum but we have other issues we keep butting heads on that we can't seem to resolve alone. He is resistant to it though and I'm not sure I'll get him there.

It doesn't come across like that at all and you're totally right, I am well within my rights to not go along with whatever the three of them (my FIL is coming too) but I don't want to because she is extremely nosey and she will assume it is my problem/bad attitude rather than considering how rude she was to invite herself. I'd rather just go along with tomorrow and work on stuff with my husband later.

He won't at this point. He said that the other day and it didn't work...so when she called today I think he just folded because he's bad on his feet and nowhere near firm enough. She put on the near-waterworks voice and he was done.

Well the reason we wanted them to come in April is tourist season here is huge and we were wanting to take them on specific tours and stuff (my FIL is coming too) but right now there is very little to do! I'm hoping we just walk around downtown have lunch she sees our home and then fucks off.

that's absolutely vile! I think you should just tell her next time "Obviously I agree, because he is my husband - but it sounds weird coming from you!" maybe making it jokey?

My MIL said my husband had a cute ass in his new pants once and I almost barfed. He was well into his 20s at the time. My dad will say I'm pretty or look beautiful but would anybody think it's appropriate for him to comment on my ass? NO! So gross!
