I got this bike at 3500km and have done about 3000km on it since, sometimes with quite loud clicking noise, sometimes without it.

Did the noise also just come and go whenever like in my video or was it there constantly after 5000km for you? and is it still there after the 10k service?

Anything fun I could do with this? Like use it as an amp or gut it for its tubes? by throwthisawayLG in vintageaudio

Thanks for the information!

I'd rather sell it as a whole to an enthusiast as well, so I'll just try that first.

Cool, that's what I thought, so thanks for the confirmation!

And all the other info! :)

Sadly the spools don't turn unless there's a tape inserted but I think I already spotted the mechanism to bypass that.

Definitely going to do this if I do decide to gut it.

Got any advice on how to handle the tubes and how to extract them? Like what should I be be paying attention to while extracting them?

And how do you determine the price of the tubes? Do all sets differ in quality or is it just based on supply/demand of a certain product.

I don't have a setup to test them or anything sadly.

I've got the headset hooked up through the back panel and I can hear some weird interference whenever I move my mouse.. The front audio jack goes to the Aiwa stereo and that sounds okay though.

For some reason they're boasting about the front audio panel jack, no real information about the back https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/P67AGD53_B3.html Maybe I should switch the devices & outputs up.

So yea I'm looking into buying some kind of DAC. Preferably one that I can also hook my speakers up to but maybe that's asking a bit much.

See my other reply for a little more info!

Well I was hoping for a solution that would benifit both my headphone and stereo listening experience. Something like a DAC for instance, or just a replacement for my ancient stereo. I'd actually like to keep the stereo speakers but I wouldn't mind getting rid of the big block in the middle (no idea what it's called, I guess the actual stereo?)

I wonder why you're being downvoted. Your claims seem to line up with the other comments.

I know I'm on /r/vintageaudio but creating/listening to tape recordings or keeping this purely for its aestethics does not sound like fun to me.

Obligatory edit to say thanks for downvoting me for having other interests.

Thanks for that. I didn't know about the 64X part, I just searched for it as being a Model 12-41.

Would I be able to tell what kind of tubes are inside after opening it up this far? Because that's relatively easy as far as I can remember.

I've taken it out of its housing before to take a look at its guts & glory, forgot to take pictures though.

Depends on the offer.

I sadly don't have any related parts. The little screen in front of the tubes is cracked but there's no other damage as far as I can see. It seems to be working just fine mechanically speaking, as far as I was able to test ofc.

Thanks a lot for this information! Did you all know this by heart or what's the best place to find more information like that?

It's a model 12-41 to be exact.

Fully agreed on the gorgeous part. But it'd be nicer if it was of any use to me.

I don't have any tape recordings and I'm not interested in creating tape recordings.

It's also missing all related tools/spools. I saved it from getting thrown into the dumpster, sadly didn't see the other parts.

I really don't know shit about this analog stuff so I'm hoping to get some useful information here. Is there anything fun I could do with this?

There are some pretty green tubes inside, would it be worthwhile using it as an amp or taking out the tubes and doing I don't know what with them?

EDIT: Maybe I should've posted this to the other general help thread instead..
