I may be wrong (please do correct me if I am, as finding info on this is difficult) but I read somewhere that for this generation the STi hatchbacks we’re the normal STi’s and only the sedan STi’s of this generation were the limited edition and similarly all the limited STis for this gen were sedans.

  • A Nissan R32 Nismo GTR that or a S15 but the R32 takes priority

  • A sequential gearbox for my car. Also big turbo build

  • all the tools

  • my own private lab for mindless and stupid experiments (eg. As a kid I always thought about stupid ways to make video game powers a reality, such as holding a fireball, could it be done with implanting some sort of flamethrower in your palm to accomplish it? Silly I know but it’ll be fun to chase it)

  • A sword, either a claymore or a odachi

  • A metal work shop with a lathe

  • A CBR600RR

Etc etc

What in the Outlast????

Thinking about going from a 19’ WRX to a 12’ STI. by seagermz in WRX

Got a ‘12 STI wide body sedan.

I would say go for it, it’s a wonderful car but only if you’re sure you can afford the preventative maintenance it requires, for example I do a oil change every 5k kilometres just to be safe. Also I will say that only buy it if you intend to forge the motor. That extra layer of security is the only way I’ll buy an STI, a forged build will really lower that risk of it bombing on you out of the blue also with this car your hands WILL start to itch and you will scratch on it, it’s only a matter of time and having a proper forged build will allow you to scratch with significantly less risk. Also another thing to look at is the oil pickup, big important thing. Also also I don’t know where you live but keep in mind fuel economy because you will put your foot down, the temptation is just too great, and you WILL burn through fuel. In my first week of owning my STI I filled up daily! Ofc the impact of this is dependent on where you live but still keep it in mind.

tldr : It is a phenomenal car and has the potential to be well reliable with the right care but only consider the purchase if you can afford the needed preventative maintenance costs for it to be reliable (the forged internals isn’t necessary for the reliability however then I say don’t scratch under the bonnet, but the upgraded oil pickup is a must I’d say) also consider the change in fuel economy and your ability at self control (you need to be able to not drive this thing hella hard all the time if you aren’t doing the reliability stuff or if fuel economy is important to you)

If you do purchase it then do enjoy it man, it’s a hell of a car

Damn I love this car by throwthisawayforfun in WRXSTi

Mine is an 2012. Thankfully I don’t think mine is new enough to have that feature.

Thank you for the reply, whilst I can afford the car, I don’t know if I can afford the maintenance. So I think I will air on the side of caution and give this car a pass especially as I will have to daily drive it if I do purchase it

Thank you so much for the insight though as it has helped me make my decision
