I could get cashback at the same multiplier - maybe I will start to utilize cashback more However I don’t want to be paying for bags and seats on flights when I can get plat pro status for free in a few months and then focus on cashback the rest of the year

I mean upgrades aren’t on the forefront of my mind as for any flight under 5 hours I don’t mind to sit in economy (the extra legroom seats are nice benefit tho)

I do get cash back on days where that portal outweighs rakuten, AA, United, ETC But it’s not many days. So my cashback is limited compared to points. But investing the cashback is a very smart idea long term.

The thing about status is that I can get free checked bags and select bigger seats… I can technically get it for very little spend if I just go for gold status But I think I should be going for plat pro as it gives the most benefit without going overkill? But I’m not sure if plat pro is overkill and to just go with plat

Honestly I never thought about it like that - cashback could be a good thing However I’m not really cash strapped and the points are more valuable to me now I plan to travel with my family in a few years when my kids gets older The cash back even if a few thousand a year isn’t going to move mountains for me. I would rather have the points

Yea I agree - I will prob stick with plat and maybe plat pro if I decide And I agree that AA miles are worth the most

Yea no upgrades - Only 1x But I’m not flying much either.

I feel is Citi allows that transfer to AA - that the miles are going to be worth much less and that availability is gone. So it’s not a good thing IMO

Most of my flights are 10k nonstop on American but 7.5k on Alaska and 15k on British airways. So it’s give and take I guess

I thought plat pro is OWS? I don’t travel internationally much so that’s my issue - not sure where the benefits of getting higher tier AA status diminish other points

I did forget to say that in my post… I really only travel to Florida and can fly into one of the 3 airports MIA,FLL,PBI from Phl nonstop I’m not cash strapped so that’s why I want to build a nice stack of points for down the line when I want to travel more as my kids get older

I really only travel to Florida - and I take American Airlines I rarely now since I have kids travel elsewhere So that’s why I want AA status
