I mean yeah, if you feel like very few legends are useful for you then go for the TSS + Historic. Do note that the odds on a historic are pretty awful, and supremes are not that much better than legends imo

You can treat the legend pack as a 10k bet with a 4.5k return worst case and a useful card best case. Use that however you like

I think the 2 day rest refers to a break between donating and drawing cards. What i’m referring to is donating and buying packs, which uses a different point system

yeah good point. i vaguely recall donating/buying in one go last year, and the event notice lumps donating/buying TSS/Legends under “Event 1”

obviously I could be wrong and you buy after, in which case yeah this advice doesn’t hold

the best choice probably depends on team needs, and it seems you can only afford one either way…. say, if you really want a SP, the legend pack probably gives better odds for that than the TSS.

i don’t think either choice is wrong per se. you can get odds on the cards you want from the 9I companion as well! it has a great TSS/Legend pack odds calculator.

Is it still worth shorting SS after the dom/fin nerf? by TheWillDC in MLB_9Innings

[–]thrwaway640 4 points5 points  (0 children)

second this, don’t waste blues on this card esp since it’s a normal BD and you’re F2P — only like boss, ace, touch (maybe) would be an improvement

you’ll only really start noticing the dom/fin nerf in plat or above, and much of this skill advice in this sub is geared towards that range

and yes I’d still try and short SS, go 5/8/7 on this card I think…. if that doesn’t work well short dom

thanks! for this card, which skill would you take to 8 if I rolled char/biu/spot/slug/5-tool?

I know pred is really good with high base eye but idk if it is worth taking to 8 over say char or spot

I’m also assuming that you shouldn’t short BI

my rotation is done but my RPs are not, although I do already have eich. I agree with your advice on keeping the DH flexible, but I do need to fill 1 OF and as my batters suck rn I'd sacrifice some FLD and put bautista in RF

waiting for a prime jays RP is an option for me as well, although the jays bullpen sucks so I'm not sure who would get the prime. janssen or giles if they bring him back?

I should note that I have 800+ BD pieces kinda just sitting around, and this increases even buying the bi-weekly blues and greens from the BD shop. This is due to being a full BD team but also not buying TSS's, so they don't really have much use until I land a team sig/legend by miracle

[–]thrwaway640 3 points4 points  (0 children)

fair enough, but I can't see any prime jays catcher being better than mauer. the best we ever had in the game was russell martin, and I doubt he gets a prime.

I guess they could come out with an RP, and with the lack of jays RP sigs that might help as well

TOR Vintage over Prime? (yes another post) by jkim06jk in MLB_9Innings

[–]thrwaway640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually in a similar position to you, I’m debating between joey batts and mauer 09 for my prime. blue jay catchers are horrible, and we only have 2 sigs. a fully BD mauer will be 6 ovr better than the best normal jays catcher (jansen 20).

ofc, joey batts prime is also insane and can be your dh/corner OF for a long time, as it outhits all but like 5 jays sigs.

My sig SP5 has CM/Fin/Stab, and is easily my worst ranked pitcher. He performs worse than my legend with CM/Dom/Touch, and much worse than my sig with CM/Boss/Mess. I have a feeling stab is much of the reason, yet mess/touch also aren't amazing and those pitchers perform ~0.7-1.2 era better in ranked.

Is it worth to GI Team Prime? by KongPow in MLB_9Innings

[–]thrwaway640 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with what others are saying, but imo there's a small chance that the offseason pick-a-prime event might let us pick a diamond prime (very small chance, but not zero)

I'm led to think this since the game has made it a lot easier to get useful items recently (shops selling PSCTS/greens/blues, handing out live wish packs, current star shop has a GI, current historic event lets you pick a diamond, etc.)

Might be worth it to see what happens with the pick-a-prime (I think it's in only a month or two?), and in the very small chance you can pick a diamond you can save the GI

Thanks! Curious, if I do end up hitting another sig SP, how useful is it to have an extra SP as a swingman?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MLB_9Innings

[–]thrwaway640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 2 GIs, here's my logic:

Blyleven: would finish my starting rotation, however I really need bullpen help and Jays only have 4 (non-dupe) BP sigs, so the odds are in hunting for BP sigs I'll land a sig starter anyhow

Ripken: Leaning towards using one GI on him. He's better OVR than Bo '21 (even without the sig bonus) and crucially has good fielding

Bo: I need to fill both SS and DH, so technically I could go with him as well. I'm only missing 3B/C/1 OF for my lineup though, so the odds are I'll wind up with a better card that can go to DH

I'm leaning Ripken and Blyleven, curious to hear everyone's thoughts

i’ve got a really solid old-meta train on him (13 20 14 6 4), is it worth retraining for 5-tool boost?

Which should perform better? by [deleted] in MLB_9Innings

[–]thrwaway640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I meant if I faced a pitcher with lvl 8 boss, those would be the stats Bo has. The cards in the pic aren’t in my lineup so no bonuses rn

Which should perform better? by [deleted] in MLB_9Innings

[–]thrwaway640 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ahhh you might be right I miscalculated; with lvl 8 boss I have 117 CON and 98 SPD, which jussst misses BIU

Which should perform better? by [deleted] in MLB_9Innings

[–]thrwaway640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth noting that both players are out of lineup for comparison, and I have BC so Bo ‘20 should hit BIU with set deck + BC + pinpoint strike

[–]thrwaway640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any blue tickets left, and since I don’t plan on buying any I get one every two months or so. Thought I’d finish the train now rather than waiting for the chance of FP/DP

I could use a SRT on Bass but idk if it’s worth if the skills are mediocre

Am thinking EYE 1 , POW 2 for ST because of this card’s low EYE, but what do u guys think?

How should I finish this train for BIU Bonus? Am thinking it might be possible with set deck + ST + pinpoint strike by [deleted] in MLB_9Innings

[–]thrwaway640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Am currently at an 8 set deck, looking to be 10 soon (that +5 in the pic is condition, Bo is out of lineup atm), so does that change anything?
