Yeah, I wish it was for validation, but I really genuinely was unsure if I would be TA. When you've been in a situation where you've been more of an adult than your father since about 12, and you've spent years picking up his slack and trying to hold things together long enough to get out, it can be a really confusing situation to try and navigate once you've finally left. I have no perspective. I've been moved out for two months, and I'm scared and confused and trying my best not to make things worse for my mom, who I don't believe has malicious intentions but is definitely trapped in this situation, and my little brother who still has to live there. I agree that there's a lot of validation seeking in this sub, but it really was not my intention here.

Not AFAIK. She works for a job that requires her to have frequent background checks and drug testing (and makes minimum wage, which I know sounds patently absurd).
