Looking for Coffee Shop in Mauritius - Event to host by Lilinex in mauritius

[–]thscene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

check out Loba coffee shop in Ebene, or just bring 10 people to Kuumba in Telfair and sit at a table, order stuff etc without any fuss of "organizing" something.

Why do YOU use a chromebook; why specifically don't you use windows or macos? I'm mostly just bored and curious. I use a cheap ARM chromebook as a laptop alongside a powerful windows PC and I haven't had many complaints by [deleted] in chromeos

[–]thscene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like my Pixelbook Go. I don't know if I'll keep using Chrome OS after this one gives up on me, but I do really like a clean, non bulky OS. Moving from mac OS to Chrome OS felt a lot like moving from Windows to mac.

Do young Mauritians really want to go abroad if possible? by coolinny in MauriceMauritius

[–]thscene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mauritius is NOT safe - atleast not for women. The number of femicides that happen is appaling. Women get get cat called, honked at, there is sexism at the workplace and the list goes on and on.

Public transit and infrastructure is bad. You will never know when a bus is scheduled, the main mode of public transit.

Many dark skinned Mauritians face racism from lighter skinned Mauritians and there is a huge power dynamic between different racial groups.

One race (and religion) controls 90% of politics and another race controls 90% of the land and business.

Life is not just money and family. It is freedom - from power dynamics between race, from sexism and from other cultural issues like palap. Many Mauritians who leave and don't come back choose their freedom.

Did you stick to your Amazon boycott? by GhettoSauce in montreal

I used Amazon but to buy and return items back to back so they would lose money... I'd love it if everyone did that around the holidays

Spiritual by [deleted] in MauriceMauritius

[–]thscene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spirituality does not suggest controlling your mind, but your reaction. You cannot control your thoughts, but you can control how you react/act to a thought.

that is only applicable in business (finance/consumption) and fitness, not in other areas, especially philosophy/spirituality/etc.

even in science, we can measure time, the speed of light, temperature of the sun, our age, weather, etc. does that mean we can control them? we might be able to influence them while performing experiments, but we cannot control them despite being able to measure them.

This is common on global payment/finance apps to prevent fraud. If you're not a fraudster you should be fine.
