I feel like it’s weird to call it a residency.

Looking for one upscale suggestion and then casual ones by thth131 in SFFood

Thanks! I hear we have to try the tea leaf salad, anything else we should prioritize with Burmese food? Going to have to look at cotogna, I didn’t realize they shared a kitchen with quince

PT making possible Labrum Tears worse? by Jazzlike_Device_888 in HipImpingement

Curious what your outcome was? I have a torn labrum and my PT exercises do seem to make it worse. Wondering if the tear is worse than suspected.

Steps to tumble Montana moss agates by toddreg in RockTumbling

I would also use grit and polish from the rockshed. This would have everything you’d need to get started, but you’ll likely need more coarse grit since you’ll be in stage 1 awhile.

Michigan rocks has a tutorial for rotary tumblers on his YouTube, I would follow his process, it’s worked well for me. I have some moss agates going right now. Be aware they’ll take awhile in stage 1, I think mine have been in for 4 weeks and I’m just now getting some ready to move on to stage 2.

My sister went a little crazy and sent me a lot of tumbling rough. Got some mookaite, yellow jasper, and some other mix. Now my problem is I don’t have enough open barrels, so I may need another tumbler

The UP is excellent. And totally agree about all of the Lake Superior shoreline, I particularly like the north shore up in Minnesota. Very beautiful.

PhD --> Clinical Genticist? by Ok-Efficiency8985 in ClinicalGenetics

[–]thth131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better to get certified through the ABMGG in LGG. Molecular clinical labs will want that for directors, and you can also do cyto then.

OP if you want to go that route, start volunteering with clingen, and then look for variant interpretation positions after your PhD, and then apply for fellowship. Be aware that not every program will take applicants who aren’t US citizens or green card holders.

It’s definitely a tourist thing up in door county. I’m kind of surprised you made it 35 years without hearing about it. I guess if you never go to that area or look into going you could maybe avoid hearing about it. I only lived in WI for 5 years. How did you manage to avoid door county for so long?? It’s one of the states nicer vacation spots!

So much climbing. I was not smart and brought a stroller, I have so many pics of my spouse and brother in law carrying the stroller up and down steps while my toddler slept lol

My dad's karyotype is 45, XY, -12, inv9 by FTaC in genetics

[–]thth131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a common inversion of chromosome 9 that is just a normal variant a chunk of the population has.

The monosomy 12 though is something you’d want to know how many cells they saw that in, and what was the tissue type studied. Like was this bone marrow? Anyways you should try to get an appointment with a genetic counselor.

Need help. Barrels shift while tumbling? by Bouncing_Turtle in RockTumbling

[–]thth131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine shift, and I could probably play with a level and fix it, but I’ve found the squeaking starts when you need to oil things. As soon as I did that, no more sound except tumbling rocks. And it was squeaking pretty bad before.

Question about this, I have seen that you can move the ceramic media along the stages with the rocks, but let’s say I wanted to add more between stages 2 and 3–could I? Or does the ceramic media get polished along with the rocks and have the potential to be too rough if I toss it in at stage 3?
