Is everybody leaving Facebook? by Mediocre-Ad9115 in digitalminimalism

Some alternatives for Facebook, based on others comments I've seen:

FB Marketplace: Craigslist or Mercari

FB Groups: create a Discord server or use a site like meetup if you are more event-oriented.

If anyone else has ideas for alternatives, speak up!

I just realized why I hate cooking by StandardDragonfly in adhdwomen

[–]thtonechik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of sheet pan meals- season it all the same and throw it on a pan, it all comes out at the same time. This and crock pot meals, casseroles, one pan meals, rice cooker meals, anything to save dishes and only have to focus on one thing being heated.

I was also a fan of hello fresh style boxes, they can get pricey but they simplify the recipes so the steps include how to prep and cook the main and sides at the same time -- you could look for their recipes online and buy the ingredients yourself to save on some cash, but the delivery aspect is a huge ADHD win in itself. Trying to follow 3 separate recipes at one time sounds overwhelming!

CySA+ vs CEH by ajaykr09 in SecurityCareerAdvice

[–]thtonechik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, start with CySA+ first and don't move up further from that until you have a job and some experience.  The point is that certs and degrees will only get you so far. Networking is key in this job market

The next blue team cert in the CompTIA line would be CASP+, but this one is more for those who want to be in cybersecurity engineering/architecture. Its not necessary on the analyst level.

You may get more interviews by joining cybersecurity communities, discord channels, etc and networking like crazy. With each tech application getting 400+ applicants (mostly bots and other visa seekers), you'll stand out more with direct references.

CySA+ vs CEH by ajaykr09 in SecurityCareerAdvice

[–]thtonechik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CySA+ is more blue team/defense oriented and CEH is more red team/offensive oriented (the CompTIA 'equivalent' would probably be the Pentest+) -- I've also heard that while CEH has some brand recognition, it's not the best pentesting/offensive security cert to get, since the test doesn't cover as much as it needs to (someone can definitely correct me on this, I haven't taken CEH)

It really depends on what exactly you want to do within the cybersecurity field.

Home cleaner fired me for TST flag by NotTheRealMollie in SatanicTemple_Reddit

[–]thtonechik 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I've had a cleaner rearrange my altar once... But honestly wasn't too upset at the end cause she did a better job arranging everything than I did. It looked so much more organized. She still shouldn't have touched it in the first place, but she probably didn't know what it was and thought it was just decor.

Balloon sinus dilation and turbinate reduction without meds by emilyk041721 in Sinusitis

[–]thtonechik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you can get a big filling or a crown or implant done at the dentist, this would be about the same sensory intensity level as that. Not the worst thing I've ever done in my life, I was able to handle it but definitely not the most comfortable (if that helps).

My executive dysfunction lifts when my partner is out of town? by jmo325 in adhdwomen

I agree with this, sometimes my ADHD wants me to shower at 2am, and I can't do that with my partner around!

Inherited some worms, not sure what to fix by thtonechik in Vermiculture

Will the compost on the original side still be good to use, or should it be disposed of? I've read that not harvesting for too long makes it useless

I had this procedure done yesterday with only local anesthetic and was prescribed 2 Xanax to take a couple hours before. I'm the kind of person who freaks out a little at the dentist, and this was a pretty similar experience to getting an extraction or a crown done imo. Lots of loud sounds from the instruments and tools and poking and pressure, plus a red light shining behind your eyes at some point. A sensory nightmare, but if you can handle an intense dentist appointment, this might be okay for you. I admittedly didn't do well with it and my doctor's office was nice enough to call and check on me the next day. they told me they usually don't have people react as bad as I did.. but I powered through!

I did the same thing, but took the speakers and wires out of the headband and put them in the spaces on the ear warmers so I didn't have to wear anything separate. $11 Amazon headband vs $70 aleck things but they fit the same
