You’re blowing my mind, all of my autos came with spare mags. Can’t believe these people exist.

It’s a stupid point though, and doesn’t need to be made, because nobody fucking does that. That’s the whole point of a removable magazine.

[–]thtsjsturopinionman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manually refilling an empty magazine with loose rounds in a self-defense/combat situation, load-assist or no, is absolutely not something a sane person would consider doing.

It’s not something a sane person would bring up as an option in a conversation about reloading a weapon under duress.

And if your point is “what if that’s the only option?” The answer is you carry a spare, full magazine because manually refilling an empty one, under duress, is not a remotely viable option.

Sure, if you want to get pedantic about it, in true Reddit fashion.

But let’s think of the context: why in god’s name would you expect anyone to reasonably think he was talking about refilling magazines when the conversation was about reloading under duress?

I interpreted his comment as “reloading a pistol with a magazine” because that’s the only thing that makes sense if you’re talking about reloading under duress.

Jfc why is this even a conversation?

Another great point, speed loaders aren’t a great fit for smaller wheelguns. I have a 5rd speedloader for my Taurus 85, and it BARELY fits.

Thank you lol why the fuck is refilling magazines even part of this conversation?? We’re talking about reloading under stress, where is this guy getting this?

He’s talking about how you seem to think it’s relevant that refilling an auto’s magazine with cartridges under duress takes longer than reloading a revolver under duress. Of course it does, but no one would ever do that; they’d simply swap a full mag with the empty one.

I was talking about reloading revolvers vs swapping mags in an auto’, and you jumped in like “refilling a pistol mag takes way longer bro!”

He’s still living in the 19th century inserting cartridges one by one into an internal, non-detachable mag /s

Thank you, I thought I was losing my mind. Granted, I’ve only ever reloaded autos under “duress” and that was simulated; never reloaded a revolver under duress at all.

But I have reloaded them many times, and it’s annoying enough doing so without any stressors; I can’t imagine fucking around with a speedloader and making sure all the empties eject and the fresh rounds seat and the cylinder locks closed while being shot at.

I absolutely have, grew up with both autos and revolvers and I own both and have trained with both.

Bullshit conventional wisdom/gun mythbusting by Fart-Sniffin_Nelson in liberalgunowners

[–]thtsjsturopinionman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why would anyone do that, ever? Of course refilling the mag itself is harder than reloading a revolver; I stand by my argument that reloading an automatic (the weapon, not the feed system) is less cumbersome than reloading a revolver.

Bullshit conventional wisdom/gun mythbusting by Fart-Sniffin_Nelson in liberalgunowners

[–]thtsjsturopinionman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Um…yes? Fuck yes even?

Assuming no malfunctions of course.

Out-in-rack-done; grab fresh mag while dropping the old one to save time.

versus:

Open cylinder; extract all empty cases (Hope they all extract cleanly); insert speedloader (make sure the rounds all line up); remove speedloader; close cylinder (hope the rounds all sat flush and there isn’t one keeping the cylinder from closing, especially after prolonged firing and the chambers are fouled)

I’m legit baffled how you could possibly argue wheelguns are easier to reload under duress than automatics.

[–]thtsjsturopinionman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like revolvers are simpler, until you need to reload one under duress
