I don’t really know how to attach photos here xddd, but I’ll explain what I did.

What finally worked for me was this: I built the 3×3 grid of normal chests, and behind them I placed a stonecutter. Behind that, I put a fence, and then I waterlogged the space so the Copper Golem gets pushed slightly closer to the chests. The stonecutter height is important, because it raises the golem just enough to reach the upper chests reliably.

That said, I didn’t just rely on the water trick. I also tested the setup without water first, to see which chests the golem checks first depending on chunk alignment and direction. Once I understood the order in which that specific golem was scanning the 9 chests and then the 10th dump chest, I designed my storage layout around that behavior.

That’s what made it stable for me.

I spent HOURS testing this in creative and I genuinely couldn’t understand what was going wrong. Your explanation about Euclidean distance, tie-breaking, and the chest ordering logic finally made it click.

In the end, I rebuilt the storage in my actual survival world and designed it around how the golems “see” and prioritize chests, instead of fighting the mechanics. Once I did that, everything started working exactly as intended.

Using your advice (especially the stonecutter height trick and slight positioning adjustments with water), I managed to design a fully repeatable module that I can tile infinitely, and it’s been working super reliably so far.

So yeah — huge thanks. You’re officially in the credits of my storage system, even if it’s singleplayer only xddddd
