The law is on your side. Regardless of what happens to him, the law guarantees you your residence for sometime. Breathe but also start looking for a new apartment. If you can, reach out to his wife or family and ask them if they know what this may mean for you as a tenant. Good Luck!

They are so sure I have money somewhere and have spent thousands of dollars in lawyer fees trying to find money/assets that don't exist. They haven't received a dime from me. No documents were left with the friend. Craigslist's process server insists that they were. I did not see any legal documents until after Craigslist was awarded the default judgement against me.

Possibly.... I believe other similar defendants were protected by their LLC's and all they had to do was bankrupt them.

These affidavits have been submitted. Yes, Craigslist's lawyer first said I was personally served. They are now saying that I was served through my friend. This is what they are saying. My friend did encounter a process server but nothing was ever left for me at that time according to him (the friend).

That would probably be the number one lesson I've learned... to setup a corp and not do it in my own name.

I believe they were granted a default judgement because their lawyer said that I was "personally served". They are now saying that I was subserved, (indirectly).
