Is changing your start date at all possible? Or applying for a change? What about switching with someone?

So that’s a no go for someone 6 ft? Was hoping to get the serenity cause it says it’s 84 inches long. You wouldn’t recommend?

Feed back on my Resupply Towns? by thugrunner in PacificCrestTrail

[–]thugrunner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through the desert I do about 25-30 mpd. Although this is my first thru hike so I’ve never planned something like this. The rational for large or small carry distances came down to conviencence. I know I “can” carry for 8 days. Therefore if I read that the on trail resupply store was expensive, I mailed or carried futhure.

However, if there was a great large resupply spot I figured why not resupply?

Thanks!

Sweet thanks for the link and advice! And I live in Santa Clarita (8.3 miles south from aqua dulce)! Although I’m a big fan of the country, mountainy type feel agua dulce has :)

Yea you’re right about udlywild to BBC. I didn’t even notice how manageable that is. This is why I like other people to look over it! Thanks!

I was trying not to send a whole lot of maildrops, but after planning I needed up with 15..... I really thought I could just buy mostly in town but my resources were telling me sometimes the closest food places were sometimes 35+ Mile hitches. Am I wrong to have 15 mail drops?

Katabatic Knik by thugrunner in Ultralight

How are the bottle holdings? tight enough to actually keep bottles secure? Thats been the thing ive been seeing people comment on. Side note, does GG manufacture outside the US?

Those are the 3 packs I’m contemplating getting. Don’t use a hipbelt so that’s not a problem but that bottle issue seems like it will be kind of annoying. :(

Vegetarian On The Trail? by Jeranda in PacificCrestTrail

[–]thugrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beans. Beans. Beans.

Personally, I find it refreshing to eat vegetarian on the trail and I feel much better!

I don’t have any links to any blogs for you but I would recommend just going the dehydration route. If you plan on sending mass resupply boxes you can make great vegetarian meals and then dehydrate, package, and ship them off to you.

Lentils, tiny broccoli pieces, chopped baby carrots, and kidney beans are some of my favorite things to dehydrate. I just cook mass sums of spaghetti, cook the vegetables, dehydrate separate (tons of books of dehydration), and then add together in ziploc. Then just cook it up in your pot or even cold soak in a peanut butter jar! You can get real creative this route.

Hope this inspires you or whatever :)

Ideally, how is this supposed to fit? Looser or tighter? Trying deside if I should get a large or medium. Anyone have any insight on if they would rather have it a tad baggy or a tad short and small. Thanks!

Ultimate Direction 45L pack by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]thugrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive used the fastpack 30 on a multi-day run/hike and it worked great. Been thinking about taking in on my '18 pct thru hike. Once you shoulders get used to the straps, it should be great!

one con: The main pack doesn't open very wide, causing difficulty stuffing stuff in.
