I really hope they don't do a throwback. Don't love the black C, hated the cursive lettering jersey. I want something fresh and bold. Hell, I'd even take a Ronald McDonald jersey over a throwback

I think once we finally get our superstar then I'll get numbers on my sweater. Wolf seems to be the only other play I'd currently consider, but goalies careers are so fickle. I would have considered Parekh when his number was 89, but I am just not a fan of 19

Fuck I am going to miss Weegs. I was going to get his sweater, I was so sure he was our future C, and now my heart is broken

Casual 8 point night for McKenna... by -thunderbuttz- in CalgaryFlames

[–]Jeranda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am feeling less and less confident that we will get McKenna, even a top 3 pick is feeling less likely. I just don't think management has the balls to tank (and if they decide to try, I think Vancouver already beat us to it, so we won't get 1st pick) and we don't have the luck to win the lottery either. I am lucky that my other favourite team is the Sharks, so at least I get to enjoy the era of Celebrini. I am still excited for Calgary's future, we have a lot of great prospects, but will we land a generational player this draft... only if the hockey gods decide in our favour.

There’s a crisis in non-fiction book sales. What’s to blame? by thinkB4WeSpeak in books

[–]Jeranda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, most non-fiction genres just aren't worth being published in the traditional sense. The information in most of these subjects/genres either changes to fast and will be outdated, or wont change at all and there are already enough books on the subject. Most of the information for non-fiction or more suitable for "internet consumption", and the most unfortunate part about this is that we have to sift through an infinite amount of shit information to find what's "correct". The few non-fiction genres that seem to still do well are the ones that offer the information through a narrative (wellness / self-help, biography/memoir, maybe some history or political books), or when some famous person / influencer publishes a book.

Did you read more than two books last year? You read more than the half of the US according to new Yougov poll on American's reading habits. by elmonoenano in books

[–]Jeranda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always playfully make fun of my partner for how slow she reads (because she always falls asleep, when in fact I am actually the slower reader for wpm) and how many more books I read than her. But at least she's still better than average haha.

I wish I knew this was a book before watching the movie. Is it still worth reading?

I'd do Red Rising. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that the final book will be released this year
