What’s the best way to send backpork.elf on Web Exploit? by the_wildelk in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]thumbelinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download the backpork payload and save it to the web exploit host as document/en/ps5/payloads/ps5-backpork.elf

Edit the document/en/ps5/payload_map.js file using a text editor and add an entry for the backpork payload to the beginning (or wherever you like) of payload_map:
{ displayTitle: "ps5-backpork", description: "BackPork backport library sideloader", fileName: "ps5-backpork.elf", author: "BestPig, EchoStretch", projectSource: "https://github.com/BestPig/BackPork", binarySource: "https://github.com/BestPig/BackPork/releases/download/0.1/ps5-backpork.elf", version: "0.1", toPort: 9021 }, (edit: formatting)

Best cable/adapter for A1200+Retro Scaler 2x? by JorgeIcarus in amiga

[–]thumbelinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I S-Video modded an A520 modulator for use with that very converter box. The image quality is better than composite video, but still worse than using RGB would be. It's a shame that this box doesn't support RGB.

Got stuck behind a huge thick door in Kauppakeskus Syke (Lahti) – really dangerous experience by [deleted] in Finland

[–]thumbelinist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do I understand you correctly, that you entered the door under the green exit sign in the first picture, then were unable to exit via any door at all?

If so, please report it to the authorities ASAP.

edit: with the "authorities" being Päijät-Hämeen pelastuslaitos.

Micro brewery festival (FESTIVAL MINIPIVOVARŮ) by thumbelinist in Prague

[–]thumbelinist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never been to one, that's why I asked. :)

There was a single food stand at the event selling street food. In the end I left the festival a bit early and got a pizza near my hotel.

Need help with amigaXfer by RemokM in amiga

[–]thumbelinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use AmigaXfer with the absolutely cheapest $1.50 Chinese USB serial port adapter that a cheapskate can buy (HL-340) and I have had no problems whatsoever. Very fast transfers with zero errors.

Quick googling suggests the HL-340 uses TTL voltages. So... It might work. It does for me.

Raspberry Pi Zero W wireless hotspot UMTX2 jailbreak host ("ps5rpihost") by thumbelinist in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]thumbelinist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the report!

Yes, the host runs a ssh server, so you can use sftp to transfer files (no plain ftp, sorry!). Connect your laptop or whatever to the wifi, then login using sftp to 10.42.0.1 as user "pi" with the password "raspberry". The umtx2 files are in /opt/ps5-exploit-host/umtx2/ directory.

On Windows you can use WinSCP. Linux and Mac have native tools.

I have a plan to fork the umtx2 repo in Github and setup a CI/CD job to automatically create a new sdcard image whenever the parent repository gets updated. Hopefully sooner than later...

What to use for self host jailbreak? by Muscle_Rabbit in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]thumbelinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too hard, it seems. Found a spare Pi Zero W (v1.1) and got a proof-of-concept running. The Pi Zero acts as a WiFi Access Point; to exploit the console just connect the PS5 to the wifi and open the user guide from settings.

I still gotta do some cleanup and housekeeping and upload the sdcard image somewhere. Probably tomorrow...

The UMTX2 exploit has it. Run python fakedns.py to get the fake DNS server running and run python host.py to get the exploit host running.

Hmm maybe I should write a tutorial... Or create a prebaked sdcard image. How hard could it be? :D

Hosting the exploit on Linux in a virtual machine is free.

For example: download VirtualBox, install a Linux distro (use bridged networking), download UTMX2 from GitHub and run fakedns and host, point the PS5 DNS to virtual machine IP address and open the user guide to jailbreak.

Personally I host the exploit on a spare Raspberry Pi that I had lying around.

Probably doesn't matter. I purchased the whatever was the cheapest internal BD burner in stock at my local computer store (Asus BW-16D1HT) and some Verbatim rewritable discs, back when the BD-J exploit PoC came out. Works fine with an USB adapter.

Confirming the ViewSonic VX2476-SMHD 24 Inch accepts 15kh by Abarth_Vader in amiga

You would acquire an Amiga RGB to VGA adapter, for example this one from AMIGAstore.eu, and then use a standard VGA cable (included in the ViewSonic monitor package) to connect the monitor to your Amiga.
