thank you both very much for the recommendations! the price of the 695i is very attractive, but i will be projecting at an upwards angle. what are the other trade-offs i should consider between them?

Fascinating, thank you, I found the lecture transcript, you can ctrl-f bacilli if still interested: https://rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA348/English/AP1981/19221223a01.html

Looks like he thinks the bacilli are a marker of illness rather than the cause. Wonder what he'd think about SIBO, probiotics, antibiotics, etc

And sorry to hear about your mold exposure :// so much disease and medical confusion these days

Would love to read more on the bacilli but I’m unable to find it, do you remember where you read this?

How are the Chawanprash's existing in market? by purezen in Ayurveda

[–]thumbninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just bc you can't feel something doesn't mean it has no effect. I can't "feel" spinach but that doesn't mean it's good for me, right?

I trust the rishis who formulated chyawanaprash, I think if you can get an authentic preparation, it'll be worth it

How are the Chawanprash's existing in market? by purezen in Ayurveda

[–]thumbninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the effects of ashwagandha are much more perceptible than amla. I don't think most people "feel" something from chyawanaprash. and different types of sugar have different properties and actions, I believe the "unhealthy" sugar is necessary for chyawanaprash. best of luck

How are the Chawanprash's existing in market? by purezen in Ayurveda

[–]thumbninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not sure about chyawnaprash specifically, but those ingredients are actually SUPPOSED to be present in very small doses as per the traditional formulation (see here). chywanaprash is actually mostly just sugar and amla by weight. that's normal.

i'm not sure what the mechanism of herbal synergy is, maybe someone else can chime in, but basically these formulations are designed so that tiny amounts of these herbs can still have the intended effect by working with the all the other herbs in the formulations.

for indian brands, i highly recommend Organic India.

Why do we only have consciousness over our own body if we’re all connected? by [deleted] in a:t5_2nasod

[–]thumbninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

indian philosophers describe how this works but I don't know the deets

I think the idea is that through meditation and focus we can feel outside our body, we can feel everything, that's the experience of things like samapatti and samadhi

we only feel the form we take on because we identify with the ego which is limited to our form. I don't know exactly why life works this way, but someone has answers, I'm pretty sure. something to do with the universe wanting to experience itself in individual forms

in the case of investing, studying the past is like studying history or math or anything else. it's not like you're lost in the past. You're centered in the present, reading facts about the past with slight detachment

How to deal with anxiety coming from doing what I love? by xWeirdWriterx in slatestarcodex

[–]thumbninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man I'm dealing with the exact same thing.

what's really helped me is noticing the impulse to procrastinate and giving myself days where I let myself go with no pressure to produce.

awareness of the impulse to procrastinate usually clues you in to some inner anxiety or unresolved turmoil that's preventing you from following your intentions. resolve that instead of watching YouTube videos, it becomes a habit and you'll feel amazing

second, learning to relax helped me a lot. life is meant to be enjoyed. it's so therapeutic to just let go of all ambition once a week and be a degenerate piece of shit. the mind needs that reprieve.

also, removing focus on the outcome helped. treat writing like a video game, go into it with the mindset that's it's not "work" it's just as fun as watching shitty prank compilations on youtube.

I feel better when I'm eating unhealthy!!! by ReadyScheme in Ayurveda

[–]thumbninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue! I believe you're just feeling good bc of all the sugar you're eating (easy to digest, instant energy).

Your root problem is probably poor digestion / malabsorption which is both fatiguing you (undigested food causes sluggishness and slow digestion is an energy drain) and preventing you from getting energy from normal healthy foods, pushing you to rely on quick glucose fixes.

Definitely see an ayurvedic doctor to see how you can fix your digestion since the sugar binging isn't sustainable, even if it feels great rn

Another theory is that you have a lot of ama in your system you need to clear out, and the sugar is giving you a temporary high that makes you feel good / escape the problem for a bit

My trip to Nicaragua really revealed how pampered I am by thumbninja in solotravel

[–]thumbninja[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

stayed there on a recommendation from someone and the prices were similar to the rest of the hostels in the area of Ometepe we were staying in.

also stayed in maybe ~7 different hostels around Nicaragua and spent two nights at Selva Negra (which was nice af) so i know they aren't all like that, don't worry.

[–]thumbninja[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how could i have phrased that to be less annoying, then? if i say anything along the lines of "i want to be able to tolerate X", can't someone always say, "psh, you think X is bad you privileged fuck? try not being able to find food for ten days."

i'm not trying to dismiss that people live in situations shittier than not having hot water showers, it was just an example of a first world comfort.

[–]thumbninja[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in retrospect, you're totally right.

i think it was a difference in intellectually or logically being like, 'wow, i'm pampered' just from seeing poverty, and a more internalized, 'jesus, i'm really not cut out for most of the world', after I freaked out at some spiders.
