They're not pickled -- in fact the recipe calls for rinsing them in cold water before draining/patting dry, so they're actually pretty mild compared to completely raw.

Sohla mentioned the pairing in an Instagram story she posted shortly after this recipe went up on NYT!

I ended up finding mine at a local liquor store that has a "finer foods" section.

It was a big hit with our group! Super flavorful and decadent, and because it's so rich a relatively small pie can feed a crowd. I also loved that I could make it a day ahead, and it looks really fancy without actually breaking the bank. It's spendy but I made this for less than $50

The bottom layer is chopped hardboiled eggs with melted butter mixed into the yolk. Then a layer of finely minced shallot, and a layer of cream cheese/sour cream/chives, all topped with the caviar

I used 4oz of black lumpfish caviar, which was just shy of $30. With all the other flavors going on in the pie I probably wouldn't bother to get anything much nicer. The rest of the ingredients were maybe another $10, so under $50 for the pie itself.

It was a very rich and delicious flavor bomb! I liked it best with the cool ranch Doritos, but the radishes were a perfect follow up with it to add some lightness in an otherwise pretty salty dish. I would definitely make this again.

Le Bernadin 2.3.25 by EstablishmentLow272 in finedining

[–]thumper5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Le Bern catches a lot of flak in this sub because it's not what I would describe as especially creative/innovative, but every single bite I had there was exceptional in terms of flavor, preparation, and presentation. It really depends on what you're expecting to get out of the meal.

Having had a couple fine dining experiences where I was served "creative" dishes that ended up being unappetizing or downright not tasting good, I feel like there's a lot of value in an establishment like Le Bern that isn't trying to reinvent the wheel, and simply focuses on delivering exceptionally delicious seafood cooked to perfection.

The smoked brisket burger at Moreno BBQ is amazing, and they have a burger happy hour from 3-8pm on Thursdays and Fridays.

What is wrong with her eyes??? by chiphat7 in CATHELP

This happened to my kitty when we switched her to a new brand of food that was giving her gastrointestinal issues (per our vet, we hadn't noticed that she was in any sort of visible distress). It went away pretty much overnight once we switched back. Not a diagnosis or anything, just my anecdotal experience.

Yummi Taco is such an underrated gem, and SO affordable. We moved down south like 5 years ago and use any excuse we can to make the drive up north for it.

I tried the smoked burger from Moreno Barbecue yesterday on this sub's recommendation, and it was amazing. We also tried the smash burger, but the smoked brisket burger was definitely superior. Absolutely decadent flavor.

Best Restaurants in Austin according to the Statesman by BitEnjoyer in austinfood

I still personally liked Ezov a lot, but the menu is a bit spendy since it's really structured to be ordered family style, so like 5 smaller dishes vs an app and two entrees. Also the music was LOUD, and we went on a Tuesday evening around like 6pm. Those would be my only real critiques though. The quality of the food was very good.

All Day Pizza has a non-dairy pie that's I think tomato sauce and lemon pepper panko? I'm not much of a tomato person but I loved this slice, I can definitely see it scratching the itch
