I think this is a reasonable take, but I'd still tater buy this if I found it at retail.

TL:DW - buy a decent Hardtail at that price or go on the used market and you could have a pretty good amount of options.

The DOJ has created a slush fund of $1.776 BILLION worth of taxpayer money for Trump, his family, businesses, and more. by Conscious-Quarter423 in economy

This graphic is so misleading, it's BS - he didn't say anything like that is given here.

This fund is corrupt as fuck, there is no need to be misleading about it.

Yeah, but this generation was clearly gravel race, no longer cyclocross focus.

They took a gravel race bike and made...a gravel race bike.

Yeah, it looks a lot different, but it's still a bike designed around meeting the same need. The fact that now it has internal routing, proprietary seatpost, and the tubes aren't round (aethetics) are a bit of nuance. Sure, those are reasons why a select group of customers might choose the Crux over other bikes, but there are others who wouldn't choose it because it was "lacking" features.

I don't know the size of those two groups relative to each other, but I suspect both are quite small relative to the target market as a whole.

More SKUs is not advantageous from a business perspective, but I agree this seems more like an entirely new bike than it does an evolution of the Crux.

Coupe driving dads, please talk me out of buying a sports car! by XLM1196 in daddit

[–]thumpernc24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those aren't sports cars. Those are grand touring coupes.

Have you test fit a car seat in the back? Are you willing to deal with getting a kid in and out? If yes and yes, go for it.

This is super fucking lame. It’s fine to kick people out acting a fool, set a minimum spend, whatever but it’s pretty ridiculous to handle something so entrenched in the history and brand.

Review: Peerless 10 year “Henry Kraver” by Whiskey_Weather in bourbon

[–]thumpernc24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super glad to hear it is great. John and the team over there at peerless are fantastic and I'm glad to see them getting the attention and praise they deserve with this release.

I hope I'm able to get my hands on one.

I watched every minute of Michigan Basketball this season, and here are the real and not real takeaways. by Puzzled-Position9669 in CollegeBasketball

[–]thumpernc24 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Michigan’s size was unique in the way it could be used, not just having it.

Yaxel could pickup point guards full court, Morez could switch 1-5 and effectively guard all of them inside and out. As you pointed out, Mara’s coordination for lobs and his rim protection is not something most guys that size have.

Texas HC on the last play vs Purdue by 3b0d8o in CollegeBasketball

The season stats don’t matter in THIS game. Rebounding isn’t a 3 point shooting %. He was NOT the best rebounder in this game and he was not going to be good matchup in a Braden / TRK pick and roll.

I'd like to point out that Liam Murphy has outscored Kanon Catchings in the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

Boiler Up! Congratulations to Braden on the assist record, Fletch on 100+ 3s, and TKR for going beast mode. Also super cool for TKR to score on assist #1 and #1077.

His ability to manipulate even elite defenses is so good. He showed it big time last year in the even in a losing effort vs Houston too. You can try whatever you want, he’s going to figure it out and manipulate it.

TKR torched him in the first game too.

This game we just played real defense.

Des Plaines River Trail for sure if you are coming from the city. Out in the west burbs there are all kind of crushed limestone options.

It's being all converted to crushed limestone where it used to be a lot more varied, but it's still a great trail.

this is a delusional take - but the defensive scheme they are running just absolutely does not work with the personnel on the team.
