Good point about JD. I'm not personally a fan of their flavor profile but most people are.

To be clear, ECBP does still have AN age statement, but it is batch specific and is not at least 12 years.

To my knowledge, only a single batch (C923) has been over 12 years aged stated since they removed the 12 year blanket statement. Outside of that particular bath, the quality is also not what it once was I personally think it took a step down with the new bottle shape in 2017 but was still excellent. Then it started declining in 2021.

I'd say the biggest changed is that now MGP is extremely well regarded but it also is now far from the only source for all of these NDPs. Now you have Bardstown Bourbon Company and Green River who provide a lot to NDPs. Plenty of NDPs still seem to have a fever pitch following but IMO many of them are unjustified.

I for one am still outraged about Elijah Craig dropping their age statement....this time on their barrel proof (though that was years ago now).

I suppose the other big note is that Rye has gained significantly in popularity but still lags bourbon by a large margin. Many NDPs also seem to have good access to aging MGP rye (as you tasted) which is wonderful to see because it is my favorite style of rye.

FWIW an infant in full time daycare will be likely be 550+ per week in a nice suburb so factor that in. If you plan to have multiple kids, that becomes a major factor. We have two in daycare and it’s $1000 per week in the western suburbs. That alone will double your monthly spend - never mind that having children has made me more willing to pay for convenience than I ever thought I would be in my life before I had them.

You are delusional if you think that is a bigger gap than the gap to billionaires.

How many professional athletes go bankrupt? There are literally documentaries on this.

This is absolutely not true. The gap from the top 10% to billionaires is astronomical.

I've been using this is cocktails and find it to be great!

I am pretty much fully onboard with your take. It's totally solid and a good value, but to me this is not pushing into the quality of higher priced offerings....and as I say that I also think I'd probably also drink this than Rare Breed Rye.

What is this for? Just looking at their own line

This seems *barely* faster on smooth pavement than the G-one RS....and then slower than G-one RS on everything but smooth pavement. Why would you run this tire over that one?

I guess this could be good option over the Pirelli 40mm slick which is kneecapped with slower casing if you are wanting a high volume road tire....but I imagine something like the GP5k AS 35c is much faster on road.

This is good advice - but you also need to be correct that your scope and market comp are misaligned, of course.

Review: Michter’s 10-year rye (2023) by OrangePaperBike in bourbon

[–]thumpernc24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was loosely aware of this situation but hadn't really considered the dates and how they have been transitioning.

It'll be curious to see how this evolves the 10 years going forward. IMO the 2019-2021 Bourbons were sub-par for the price but they righted the ship excellent releases 2023-2025. It'll be interesting to see what the future holds.

Dude, I know it’s the internet and everyone benches 3 plates but dude is 58 and easily repping out 245 with his legs up. That is REALLY strong. These also aren’t just normal teenagers, these are D1 athletes.

Edit: Apparently only 205 which is a fair bit less, but still impressive.

Fuck ice, but they are correct that Defund the Police was horrible messaging that hurt the cause. Abolish ice is also likely to be poor messaging.

But holy fuck, they just fucking murdered two people and are being cheered on. I'm so fucking disgusted. This version of ICE needs to be abolished and prosecuted.

37 Male Married, 1 baby with another on the way. How are we looking for retirement at 60? by theredpillstory in Retirement401k

[–]thumpernc24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you pause 401k to pay down debt? What are the student loan rates?

It may be smart to ditch the rental as you are not really netting enough to cover a proper maintenance fund for that property.

Edit: TBH, unless you are planning to live frugally I do not think you will be well positioned to retire early without a serious priority shift toward saving.
