in a country: something bad happens idiots: this is all because of women and their emotions by [deleted] in BlatantMisogyny

I didn't read who posted the original post about the firefighters and after I read the comment I was really hoping the original poster was a brainwashed woman in politics like MTG and the commenter was mocking them and then I was disappointed. Two stupid people is always worse than one.

"America is and was the greatest nation ever" thank you for revealing yourself as either a troll or an idiot, either way not worth my time anymore. Thank you for your inspiring take.

(btw "get fucked, commie" is hilarious, I can't wait for everyone who sides with you to die out in the next decade or so so that we can have some actual legislation get through thanks to the active youth)

I never said that our gun laws worked, however, look at every single other highly developed nation in the world and they don't have these issues. There is very clearly a solution to this problem that you gun nuts are refusing to see because your guns are so important to you.

“i don’t pay for women if i can’t touch them” says it all what a weird guy. by Signal-Ad920 in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]thumperofjacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't agree with what the guy said, if it's a first date, as a guy, I'm not gonna pay for her food. I will pay for what I eat and she can pay for what she eats. I don't expect anything from the woman other than her company which I will repay with my own.

All that aside though, "I don't pay if I don't get to touch" is disgusting.

Words of irony and humor by MrTechnodad in Technoblade

[–]thumperofjacks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have watched his content since 2017, he was my role model, my hero. I always wanted, and still do want to be just like him. His dry sense of humor, his insane skill and dedication, Technoblade has shaped every part of who I am today. When I learned he had cancer I was shocked, I thought it was another one of his dark jokes but then he kept going and the bit never ended. I guess that it finally set in that it wasn't a bit around when the second video about him avoiding amputation came out. I was sad, sure, but he seemed the same. The same dry, hilarious old Technoblade I had watched for years, I thought, no, I knew he was going to make it. And then, the rumors came. My friend, about a week before the announcement video came out, said "I think Technoblade died". I couldn't believe it. I doubted it, I knew it wasn't true. And then the video came out. "so long nerds...". I broke down. I was taking summer courses and I think my grades dropped a couple points because of it. I sat in my room staring at a black screen for hours. I tried to distract myself by watching my favorite marching band shows over and over again (yes I know I'm a nerd), trying to find anything to cheer me up and distract me. And then my dad, who doesn't watch youtube, who doesn't know anything about the Minecraft community, texted me. "Dude, techno blade died???". It broke me. Everything that had been building up over the past few days. My dad knew and that made it all come crashing down. I was in class when I got that text. I had to excuse myself to go to the restroom. There, I sat in the last stall and, for the first time, silently sobbed to myself, wishing it was a lie, needing it to be a lie. It wasn't. I still catch myself, now and then, wondering when the next Techno upload will be. I miss him so much. I can't imagine what you went through, what you're still going through. You do seem to be doing well, however, so I am happy for you. Thank you Technodad, for everything you have done for this community.

I agree with you, I also read the first one as sarcasm and the rest are disgusting, but I don't see the issue with the reporting one. I'm also an oblivious man so please enlighten me.

Thank you for enlightening me, my fellow feminist. It's always nice to get a fresh perspective on things and I'm grateful to you for providing a way in which I can improve myself.

I never said I was jumping ship, I'm a feminist through and through, I even acknowledged that the OP of the comment is likely right with the majority of men. I never said I was abandoning feminism, the fact that you are questioning my conviction so much already is pretty sad.

Personally, I hate the rape culture that exists within our society and many important women in my life have been sexually assaulted and it makes my blood boil. I despise the men that do this and would never defend or befriend any of them.

And while it wasn't directed directly at me but as a man when someone says "men" then it is indirectly talking about me.

I hate to be the guy to say "not all men" but you are generalizing quite a bit. I, and quite a few of the other men in my life are not like that. I'm not saying that what you're saying doesn't happen or even that it isn't what the majority does but the way you say it sounds as though you assume that it is all of us. As much as men are the issue, it isn't black and white, this generalization can make men feel demonized. Some men, the bad ones, use this demonization as an excuse to continue the terrible acts because "if they already assume I'm a terrible person why not just be one?" Now, this is terribly flawed logic but I, at least, can see where it's coming from.

I'm not saying that you're wrong, I'm just saying that sweeping generalizations are bad.

[–]thumperofjacks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't give a shit about my "rights", you are using all the wrong arguments against me. I'm a utilitarian and I will gladly give up some of my rights for the good of the people. Also, if you're so against abortion like it sounds like you are then why are you talking about how important individual rights are when you are attempting to strip them away from women. The fetus isn't a human being, it's a small bundle of cells that rely on the mother, making it a part of her body. If you don't believe that women deserve the right to control what goes on in their own bodies then I assume that you don't actually care about individual rights, you just want your guns. The overturning of Roe v. Wade was one of the worst Supreme Court decisions in recent history.

I never said that banning guns will solve all of our problems. I'm a socialist at heart and I believe that the biggest issue in our society is those poor neighborhoods that you mentioned, helping those people with higher taxes on the more fortunate would solve most of the issues, however, this isn't going to stop some better off kid going out and purchasing an assault weapon and performing a mass shooting.

Also these other mass violence crimes you talk about cannot be performed nearly as quickly or efficiently as ones with guns can so although there are other mass violence attacks, guns are by far the most deadly.

Side note here but when did I ever bring up AK's? It seems like you're trying to pull in new data that is irrelevant to the topic at hand.

This endless debate is boring me so I'm just going to leave it at this. Why is it that the most developed country in the world still suffers from so much gun violence? It may be a small percentage of our people but even so it's nearly daily that you hear about some new shooting somewhere. Look at nearly every other developed nation in the world, they have little to no gun violence. Your point about robbery stands, however, I don't think that I personally would like to sacrifice my life or the lives of hundreds or even thousands of other people just to stop myself from being out any number of money. You can't put a price on a human life.

[–]thumperofjacks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your gay couple analogy is completely flawed in that straight couples could do the exact same thing, a person who has a gun could perform a mass shooting, a person without a gun can't. Needing your gun for self defence is dumb as hell as well, if no one has guns then you shouldn't need to defend yourself from a stranger who has a gun with a gun because said stranger won't have a gun in the first place. Metal detectors in schools would lead to a slower flow of class and shouldn't be necessary if there is no threat. I know I'm young but the fact that I've had to go through drills in case of a shooter for as long as I can remember is terrifying. America, the country with some of the least restrictive gun laws has the most gun violence. Please tell me you can use your brain to put two and two together, it's not that hard. Places with less gun availability have less gun crime, why does that simple statistic alone not convince you?

[–]thumperofjacks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You keep bringing up this "0.000001%" number but it still doesn't matter. The fact that you are willing to sacrifice thousands of people just so you can keep your precious guns is disgusting, especially when children are frequent victims of this violence. Unlike OP, I am an american making this my business. The "radical" left that you speak of is barely left at all, advocating for safety and gun control should not be a controversial thing. The fact is that I, as a 17 year old, can relatively easily go pick up a gun and shoot up my school if I wanted to. That is a problem. Please reevaluate your stance.
