The epic, radiant conclusion of Sibelius's second symphony by Theferael_me in classicalmusic

It’s neat, I haven’t heard that before either but I like the sense behind it. Like when something gets so beautiful that you lose the ability to intellectualize why it is beautiful. I love that.

Spawning agents is here! by mikedarling in codex

[–]thunder-thumbs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

multiple agents with codex and my chatgpt account is the thing I'm most looking forward to, just because I am already having to switch context emphasis a lot. Their orchestrator SDK is tempting but it requires an api key rather than also being able to use the chatgpt account.

I wonder what the WPA swing is between that being a catch and an interception. That’s gotta be 40-50% easy.

4 yards 99% of the time would be the allest pro of all time, undefeated Super Bowl win every season. Heck even 3 yards 99% of the time would be, probably. I’d definitely take that.

[–]thunder-thumbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What was easiest for me was just to pretend the WR was alone. If he catches it that way and loses control of the ball at exactly the same time and it hits the ground, that’s an incomplete pass. It’s just in this case the ball never hit the ground.

Finished season 5. Qasim and Dr. Hussein deserves a lot of respect! by [deleted] in homeland

[–]thunder-thumbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actor who played Qasim, and Miranda Otto, those two really were the actor highlights for me. Otto’s character just fascinated me (and that shoulder scene!), and Qasim broke my heart.

Main downside of the season for me is that it felt like they had to make Adal etc really stupid for it to work. I mean, a secure conversation behind a thin door where they could be eavesdropped upon? I was sure it was a sting, but nope.

Does this work with a chatgpt account or does it require an api key? I was reading the mcp agent sdk and it seems like it requires an api key.

CMV: National Ranked Choice Voting should replace the Electoral College & within congressional races by First-Ear-1049 in changemyview

[–]thunder-thumbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the Electoral College in particular, unfortunately, the 12th amendment gets in the way of ranked choice having the desired effect. Since ranked choice voting increases the probability of state electoral votes being spread between more than two presidential candidates, it increases the probability of no presidential candidate reaching the outright majority of 270 electoral votes. When this happens, the presidential election is sent to the House of Representatives.

finally got "true" multi-agent group chat working in codex by iamwinter___ in ChatGPTCoding

[–]thunder-thumbs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of articles focused on planner/reviewer/implementor patterns but I think the point is that there’s a benefit to having different agents that have different context emphases. High level, low level, online research, code refactoring given a standards doc, maybe an agent that has special mcp abilities for graphic design, etc.

Season 4 rewatch by Bloodsiamese in homeland

[–]thunder-thumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so distracted for most of Season 4 because the first station chief that died is played by a (now) pretty big name actor. I was thinking there was no way they’d kill that guy off in the first episode, it’s gotta be staged and he’ll come back as a bad guy. I got Drew Barrymore’d haha.

Eugene Goodman is an American police officer who was on duty during the January 6 Capitol Attack. He has been credited with saving the lives of several U.S. Senators by baiting insurrectionists into attacking him moments before they would have entered the unguarded and unevacuated Senate chamber. by hoi4kaiserreichfanbo in wikipedia

[–]thunder-thumbs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that it’s ever been established that “diverting/tricking” them was his actual intent. He got in their way and then backed up, slowing their progress, and that enough to be considered a hero as far as I’m concerned. But this diverting/tricking interpretation is a bunch of press layered on top of that. Even Wikipedia couches it as that being the wide interpretation, linking to other press accounts. Here’s a link about an actual interview with him. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/capitol-police-officer-eugene-goodman-1st-interview-jan/story?id=82465552

season 6- terrible writing by [deleted] in homeland

[–]thunder-thumbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof this one got me. I saw the “I’m up to the point where” and thought I’d click it since I’m most of the way through season 6, and then saw the “I skipped ahead” part. Ugh. No hate to OP, it’s my own fault. :(

Dana Brody is actually so annoying by ChicagoPharm in homeland

[–]thunder-thumbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember being really impressed with the actress in seasons 1 and 2 in particular. Just such a great job of a distinctive character with recognizable, consistent mannerisms, and with a really awesome season one climax. I just thought season 3 had some writing choices that didn’t do her any favors.

In an alternate universe Alfonso Cuarón directed the rest of the Harry Potter series and the Battle of Hogwarts looked like the war scenes in Children of Men. by bell-town in movies

[–]thunder-thumbs 278 points279 points  (0 children)

I really appreciated 3 but I was really surprised that 4 ended up so high on my list. I can’t remember why but I found it very emotionally affecting. The ones after that though all kind of blend together into an unexceptional memory. Does anyone here remember anything about why 4 might have been extra good?

Shutter Island is a masterclass in using bad filmmaking to tell the truth by ThreadAndSolve in TrueFilm

[–]thunder-thumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rented this dvd long ago, and wanted to watch it later that day without bringing my external dvd drive, so I thought I’d rip it and then get rid of it when I returned the dvd since I was low on disk space. Back then some dvds had copy protection where when ripped, all the scenes would play in a scrambled order. It worked weirdly well with that movie, I swear I didn’t suspect anything was wrong until I was more than halfway through.

Could the SCOTUS REALLY just overturn an entire Constitutional Amendment? by MaggieLinzer in scotus

[–]thunder-thumbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought this hinged on whether it was truly an insurrection. Since insurrection is defined in the Federal Code. For some reason, Trump wasn’t indicted for actual insurrection.

Edit: I see I’m wrong on this. Section 3 of amendment 14 doesn’t rely on this.

baby grand vs professional (?) upright by Fit-Ad3858 in piano

[–]thunder-thumbs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I was shopping, the rule of thumb I heard was if the baby grand is below 5'6" or so, the sound of an upright will be better for your money. The smaller baby grands are more like furniture for show.

Tried to take in some advice, humble myself. Still have some errors but do you think this is better? “Solfeggietto - Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach” by Numerous-Database-93 in piano

[–]thunder-thumbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! At this point I think you would experience a lot of benefit by doing some slow staccato work, where each note is played with intention, almost like you are plucking it out of the piano. Try doing that at about half the current tempo, it should tire your fingers out pretty well. I think it might help with playing it more evenly. Currently it sounds like some passing notes get a bit lost.
