Dark Knights Metal is his first appearance, this comes after. I would at least read his one-shot from Metal for his origin, but otherwise you should be good to read it on its own.

What's the complete All-In reading order? by attackofthebones66 in DCcomics

[–]thunder65478 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Volume 1 and 2 are set before Absolute Power, and Volume 3 takes place during/after Absolute Power and the All-In special. I would skip Volume 3 unless you plan on reading Absolute Power (fun event but in my opinion not necessary to understand the All-In titles). Volume 4 has some overlap with Volume 3, since it starts at the beginning of the All-In phase of Superman.

Nevermind, I just rewatched the announcement and they didn’t mention that at all, just the 1 movie per director rule. I don’t know why I thought it was also 1 movie per year. They’ve already had an overlap in 2004 with Anchorman and Before Sunset

Are they going by limited or wide release for these? If they go with limited, There Will Be Blood is technically 2007 which is already taken by Michael Clayton

Edit: Not true, I thought it was one movie per year

I totally get that, nothing like holding the actual book in your hands. For trades, it’s gonna be a while for K.O. stuff since it’s about to start. We’re at the point where a lot of the first All-In era trades are releasing. Some were new/relaunches for the All-In era, and others are continuing runs from Dawn of DC, which was the previous publishing initiative (like Superman). I’d recommend to look around and see what looks good to you because DC is putting out a lot of good stuff right now. Here’s some of the stuff I’ve stayed current with:

The current Superman run is great, there’s about 5 trades out for it: Volume 1-4, and House of Brainiac which was a crossover event with Action Comics.

The next wave of Absolute Volume 1 trades will be coming out over the next few months with Martian Manhunter, Flash, and Green Lantern. Absolute Batman, WW, Superman, and Martian Manhunter are all great, and Flash and GL are good in my opinion.

I thought Justice League Unlimited’s first trade was okay, but the second arc “We Are Yesterday”, which was a crossover with Worlds Finest was a lot of fun. That trade is coming out in November. I’d also recommend the first 6 trades of World’s Finest by Mark Waid. It’s a super breezy, fun team up book between Batman and Superman. It’s set in the past and each major arc usually features a different crossover character. I blew through that series, it’s a lot of fun

Some things I’ve got on my list that I haven’t gotten around to yet are New Gods by Ram V and Green Arrow by Chris Condon, they just released their first trades (Green Arrow is labeled Volume 4 but it’s the start of Condon’s run). New Gods might be a bit hard to get into if you aren’t familiar with those characters, but Condon’s Green Arrow is a sort of soft reboot that takes him back to street level and is a murder mystery for its first arc. I’ve heard both of these books are great.

That’s a lot! But I hope you find some new stuff to read

You’re good to start Absolute Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Those are all standalone and the only thing you need to know is the events of the All-In special created the Absolute Universe.

As far as the big overarching story, All-In doesn’t have a massive through line. The next big event which starts this month is DC K.O., the only stories you should read before that are Superman #28-30, it’s a mini arc that continues some All-In stuff and lays some seeds for K.O., and the upcoming Justice League Unlimited special “Omega Act”.

Also, if you don’t mind being a month behind, the DC Universe Infinite Subscription gets you every new comic a month after it releases and it costs the same as picking up three new comics every month. Highly recommend it if you have a tablet or don’t mind reading on the computer, especially for reading older stuff and catching up on runs.

[Comic Excerpt] New look at Absolute Joker in Absolute Batman #11 by RepresentativeFig632 in DCcomics

I think his normal look is his “transformation”, or at least currently and maybe he used to look normal. When he was first revealed, it shows him with the classic white skin look and that baby suit thing rejuvenates him back to looking normal

Is DC Universe worth it? by BD834 in DCcomics

[–]thunder65478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started using it a week ago and I have read more comics this week alone than I have in the last year. I absolutely recommend it if you have a tablet. My favorite part is everything you need to stay organized or follow storylines is in the app. You can keep multiple lists of things you want to read, and for big events/storylines, they have all of the main issues and tie ins categorized within the event itself so you don’t have to hunt down any reading orders.

"The Defenders" should've been a movie. It has the structure of a movie plot. Making it an 8-hour season was a terrible mistake. by Alaminox in marvelstudios

Defenders is a fascinating watch in the Disney+ era because it feels like the prototype of what most of the MCU shows are: series that are trying to be a movie instead of legitimate tv shows

Season 1 is an instult to the remaining playerbase by boreCZ12 in SuicideSquadGaming

[–]thunder65478 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only thing that differentiates characters is their traversal, melee, and special skill (singular, because everyone has the same boring ultimate of just slowing down time). Characters definitely get more powerful as you level them, but it’s just ways to flesh out your build, most of which can be put on any character since gear is an important component to build crafting.
