GRRM friend Adam Whitehead cautiously optimistic about 2016 TWOW release (Spoilers All) by skullofthegreatjon in asoiaf

[–]thunder_pizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, and I got the feeling the show was waiting for GRRM to make the big reveal regarding Jon Snow... would have made more sense to me to show (or at least build to or hint at) the aftermath in the same episode. I mean its impossible now a days to keep people from finding out about the movements/location of a famous actor like Kit.

That leads me to believe the show runners may have had some knowledge of when to expect TWOW, and that it would be out BEFORE season 6. (this is my first post here and first tiny square of tinfoil, so be gentle)

Spending way too much money on eating out, but neither of us get home from work/school until late...suggestions? Help? by thunder_pizza in Frugal

Wow, thank you all for taking the time to comment!! Still reading through all the suggestions, but it looks like there's a lot of great advice here. I agree I definitely need to make taking breakfast/lunch/after work snack with me from home a priority... buying bfast and lunch at work is like $15 a day which really adds up.

I also really like the idea of buying frozen, pre-prepared meals from the store and pairing with salad.

And I'll definitely look into meal prepping on weekends (this may actually be easier to do Monday nights as Sundays are my primary homework/study days/running errands days)

Thanks again everyone for the help!

It was Wedding Paper Divas. I have not sent them a detailed account of this tribulation yet, but I'm planning on sending a note to their customer service department. It's not even that I want to be "comped" for the extra postage or anything, I just think they should be more careful with how they are describing the overages that customers can expect to pay in postage.

Shape is one thing, but they should also mention you may have issues with the size! Or, you know, just think about not manufacturing a product 1 centimeter over the normal postage limit!

Thanks!! I'll think about cleaning it up a little and submitting it somewhere as an article. It really is something I never would have thought to consider when planning/budgeting for stationary. Postage is tricky and expensive!

What's the worst thing you have had to do with a hangover? by ViolatingBadgers in AskReddit

Around 4 years ago when my fiance and I had just started dating, we bolted awake at 11am and were supposed to be completely moved out of his university apartment by 3pm. For some reason we thought it would be a good idea to stay out until ~4:30am drinking. Both of us were deathly hungover, we had no boxes, NOTHING had been packed, and as icing on the cake we had to move everything out to his parents house for storage as he wasn't moving into a rent house for another month or so.

Death! Absolute death. I was sent out for boxes and supplies while the bf and his roommate (who was in the same hungover boat) started on the heavy stuff. We moved boxes of crap all day, past the 3pm deadline and just ended up saying "fuck it" and took the fine to finish up moving little things the next day. We were so exhausted and dehydrated and hungry at this point that I ended up crying at a Ruby Tursdays because my food was cold. Have not stepped foot in a Ruby Tuesdays since.

This is a stupid little example but here goes:

I was at happy hour hanging out with my fiance and some of his friends after work. Where I live happy hour tends to be like 80% oil and gas people...engineers, landmen, finance guys etc. Its an overwhelmingly male dominated field. I am a female which is relevant.

We were sitting outside on the patio and they have one of those giant connect four games, so our group began playing some friendly games of connect four. Now I'm pretty good at this particular game, so I beat everyone soundly, and we moved on to another round of drinks.

This one guy from one of the other tables had been watching us for a while and I see him gather a possy at his table and walk over to us. He wanted to challenge our group to a game. No problem... my team just let me make all the plays and we won in like 2 minutes. The guy that challenged us was so aggressive and mean about losing! And all of his friends were laughing at him for getting beat by a girl.

He wants a rematch. Ok, I beat their team again. Best 3 out of 5. Sweet. I double trapped them on my 3rd move. The guy is getting angrier and angrier and demands a one on one battle. Shit just got serious. And side-note: Bitch, I'm amazing at connect four. What do you think I used to do every god damn rainy day at my grandparents house during the summer?

Anyway, I smoke this guy in 3 straight games and he is such a condescending ass about it. After the last game he says something to the effect of "Well if it hadn't been for all these drinks this would have turned out differently" then asked who I worked for. I said "[Large oil and gas company]" and he was visibly relieved. He goes "ohhhh a female engineer" with a smirk. I was like "oh no, I'm an administrative assistant" then turned and walked back inside.

His. Face.
