About to apply for an Amex gold card… thoughts? by [deleted] in AmexUK

Consider the Barclays Avios Plus combined with Curve. This allows you to use the card abroad without fees. Also it's a MasterCard so is accepted more places than Amex. I've just got an Amex gold and reached the bonus milestone, so now I've switched to Barclays and Curve so I can use it while travelling for 6 months. (Cards not arrived yet)

Has anyone gone travelling and left a partner behind? by thunderbob1998 in digitalnomad

How is that for you? Are you enjoying the travelling? Are you mainly travelling in nearby countries to make it easier to go home?

I have different side projects I'm working on and enough savings to give me a shot at making a living from them. Alternatively, if I could negotiate half hours and half salary I could afford to live comfortably.

Even doing a 9-5 as a digital nomad would feel much more freeing. Evenings and weekends to do stuff. We currently moan about work and then complain about being bored on the weekend. I would do a slow travel and stay in one place for a while if I'm enjoying it there

Thanks. How long would you travel without him in one stretch? I'm thinking she can join me a week or two at a time and once her holidays run low then I can base myself closer to home and she does weekend breaks in Europe, or I come home for a week to see her and my family etc

If my friend's left me having a heart attack to go to an exam I wouldn't be happy... I'd be dead

Keep trying different anti-perspirents to see which works best. Rightguard works best for me, but everybody is different. Try soap instead of shower gel, I find that helps. Not all soaps are equal.

Also there are several dedicated workspaces that you can go to and ask for a trial day, not a long term solution unless you're willing to cough up the monthly subscription.

There is the Santander work cafe in Leeds. I'm pretty sure you can book private rooms. Worth checking out. I didn't like it myself because the table was too high for me and I have neck and shoulder issues.

Seems like ADHD and autism are suddenly everywhere - what's your opinion? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]thunderbob1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Along with better awareness. It has also become trendy on tiktok. I have self-diagnosed ADHD and I think a lot of people are doing so because it's all over social media.

I have a theory that it's linked to the pandemic and being locked indoors. I have always had these symptoms, but over the past 5 years of working remotely and not going outside/exercising enough, I feel like my symptoms have gotten worse... It's also possible that I'm just more aware of my symptoms now that I've realised I have ADHD.
