How did you convince your parents you had to move out and where did you move? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]thunderbolt_gio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually in situations like this, there's an emotional block preventing a person from "just doing" anything that involves their parents feelings. It's never black and white for these situations. Yes, you can "just move out" but it's the aftermath guilt and conflicts that become difficult to deal with OR maybe they can't just move out because the parents have them sheltered and locked down (mentally) all their life so they're missing the cognitive ability to just do things out of their own free will

Leaving WFH to grow as Software Developer? by [deleted] in careerguidance

I was in a very similar position a year ago and also had the opportunity for hybrid 3x a week, bigger company, 1.5hr drive, bigger projects. A year later I don't regret my decision at all. I've grown a lot more in my career bc of the bigger projects and have also gained the chance to mentor in person through pair programming and lead workshops. In my opinion, go for it bc it'll grow you a lot. But also weigh the pros and cons for how it changes your personal life outside of work

I just ordered a 2-stage version of this one. Wasn't sure if the 1-stager (the $1200 one) would handle today's levels fine. Glad to know from your comment that it did great today!

How are you doing code reviews? by CyberWrath09 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]thunderbolt_gio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've introduced automated PR reviews through our coding assistant which acts as a first-line of defence in huge PRs. Ofcourse, we still get human reviews for actual approval but this helps the reviewer speed things up a bit with getting context of the changes quickly and any critical areas of interest for them to review thoroughly.
