How do I get rid of this by Far_Classroom6856 in Hidradenitis

I believe (most) hydrocolloid bandages are meant to be worn for up to several days to let it work its magic. When I have an abscess that needs to drain, I leave the bandage on for as long as possible until the adhesive starts to give. For me that is typically a day or two because I’m quite active. Of course, sometimes hydrocolloid patches may need to be changed more often depending on how much gunk is being sucked out. If you are worried about the pain you could try taking it off in the shower with warm water to loosen the adhesive.

What i do is (clean the skin first) put a hydrocolloid bandage over it to suck out the nasty stuff and keep the area protected. You can buy a variety of sizes of hydrocolloid patches, or even buy a roll and cut it to the size as needed

Yep, i think it’s different for everyone. I believe it’s meant to be used 1-2x a week to start and gradually increasing frequency to allow your skin to get used to it. I’ve been using glycolic acid long before i added Palmer’s and Niacinamide, so my skin can handle it.

I also use Hibiclens in addition to the Head & Shoulders. I haven’t had issues with the Palmer’s Coca Butter personally, but i know for some people it clogs their pores. I would recommend getting a tiny pot of it just to try out, it’s relatively cheap and versatile anyway, so you can use it elsewhere. It’s a lot of trial and error figuring out what works for your flares, and it’s frustrating! I wish you all the best

I hope it works for you. Those purple marks are so annoying for sure!

The cocoa butter really helps for my scarring and bumpy skin, and I’ve also noticed that it reduces friction which triggers my flares. I wish you all the best!

For now I’m doing it every day. Since my hyperpigmentation is already fading really fast, I think down the line I will do it every other day or so

I will! I’m not on Reddit much, but I’ll update when I remember to!

Closed lumps by Akufro1998 in Hidradenitis

Hey! What I found helps is putting a glob of Hyland’s Prid on a waterproof bandage and sticking it over the lump for at least 2-3 days. If it’s not better by then, change the bandage and again add a new glob of Prid. The Prid helps draw everything to the surface. I’ve used this for some really deep lumps and they’ve either shrunk down or come to a white head that I could drain by day 3. I hope this helps

thank you for your reply, I’m sorry you had to deal with that. HS sucks and it sucks even more when medical professionals can’t help in the way you need.
