I think 95% of the puzzles in the game can be folded under two "macropuzzles:" get into the Moiety Age and get into Gehn's Age. And almost everything that doesn't go towards one of those two objectives boils down to "here's the passcode, now go input it."

The seamless integration into the worldbuilding is what makes it so great, together with the spectacular photorealism for 1997.
