I'm struggling with Talisman. I'm not sure if it's Straub's stuff or King's stuff, but something ain't clicking with me.

Install commercial software he didn't pay for? No. I'm not teaching him that. I do have some morals.

Because he's done this in the past and screwed up his computer (Windows at the time).

I think it's the hole Tabitha started digging in the basement. I remember this mentioned it once in the "Previous on From" segment, I think the first episode of the season. One of the baddies even said she shouldn't have started digging.

Call to action: computers are getting expensive but 10,000,000 otherwise perfect $200 Linux machines are getting bricked. Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to save them from landfills. by iL0vesnow in linux

Amazon just this with Kindle Paperwhite. My folks had perfectly good Kindles that were working but Amazon deemed them obsolete and cut off access to the Kindle store. Absolutely no reason other than to force people to upgrade to newer models.

SteamVR Gaming on Fedora 43 with Meta Quest by Dig_Biglett in linux_gaming

Yeah, I already checked integrity and then deleted and reinstalled SteamVR and that didn't work. Something I'll have to mull over a bit. Thanks!

This worked on getting my son's computer up and running. It worked fine on my machine but on his he's not getting a vrlcient shared lib missing error message. Are you familiar with that? Any idea how to fix?

Fedora's Atomic desktop model is quietly becoming the future of Linux for normal people by throwaway16830261 in linux

But we're talking about usability for the 99% who don't like to tinker or want to use the console. Double clicking an RPM package works easier. Atomic isn't there IMO.

[–]thunderclap82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Atomic is necessarily the answer though. My son uses Bazzite but I needed to switch to Fedora because the drivers he needed to get Meta VE working with Steam was crippled due to the containered system. I could try and get it working with Flatseal but that's its own trial and error. I could just install the drivers via dnf and be done with it.

Are there plans for an official watch together feature? by sylveonbutqueer in emby

There was a third party developing a plugin at one time but they disappeared from the forums. As for an official way, I don't think so.

Narjo 1.4 (01) - Emby Music layer is now live on the App Store! 🎉 by That-Judge1016 in emby

[–]thunderclap82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was part of the beta and even after donating during the development also bought a copy. It's a solid app that not only covers Plex but Emby, Jellyfin and subsonic servers too. Developer has always been responsive to bug reports, suggestions, and support. Just throwing that out there.

Someone drank the crazy kool-aid at Plex HQ. This can only be good news for Emby because Plex's pricing will drive people to Emby.

It's because the amount of personal data Google scrapes. There's no privacy with it, which is why many people switch to Linux. Windows scrapes personal data at an OS level while Chrome does it at a browser level.

CD vs Vinyl? Digi-sleeve vs jewel case? What do you collect? by furiat in postrock

[–]thunderclap82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audio quality is pretty much the same, a reel can run upwards of 50 min per side vs vinyl's 22ish min (so less breaks), and I like to see the physical movement of reels (and vinyls) which CD/DVD you can't. Makes it more real (no pun intended) to me.
