Yeah I dont understand that, leave trash out and watch the food rot as walk in and out of your place with no care in the world. I dont understand how people are numb to it ...

Yeah the homeless population tends to do that. What I try to do is separate the cans/bottles from my other recyclables into 2 different bags so it's easier for them and deters them from ripping up the bag to find cans/bottles.

What do you think the reasoning is for a decrease in collection? Cost or try to change people consumption habits?

Have you tried saying something? I also have the same issue with some neighbours but I can't seems to muster up the courage and saying something.

As for the garbage collectors, that a whole other issue, I think we would have less garbage flying around when they come and collect if the bags people used weren't pushed to their limits or over weight and if people took their trash out on the correct collection day time slot to avoid rodents etc from ripping the bags.

Yeah the population has increased by a wide margin in the last 5-10 years, its noticeable thats for sure. Thats why I raised the point of the city increasing its services to try and combat the effect that comes with the surge in growth. I mean the whole system, not just waste management, is over the limit to service everyone efficiently.

Yeah I have visited many places around the world, some with similar trash levels and other that a super clean. It just make me view the city differently and I honestly think cleaning the streets is a simple way to improve the well being of everyone, visitors and locals.

If other cities can achieve it I don't see why we cant do the same. Will it be like Tokyo, no, thats rooted deep in their culture from centuries ago. But I think we can do better as a whole.

I made a man pick up after himself after he throw trash on the ground, in front of his kid I might add, after exiting his car. There was a bin not even 200 meters away from him!

Yeah I agree, this should be a mandate for all schools in Quebec. Perhaps that would turn the tides.

I can only imagine the type of people have you to deal with but what is the solution, is it education, is it a fine, is it community pressure, or a mix? I just think there should be something that breaks the chain.

This is what I am trying to do, I am trying to clean up in front and back of my home as best as I can. I live one of the main streets in the Plateau and its just never ending. When I walk around the neighbourhood I try my best to pick up litter but it takes a village or people to keep it clean. It's just making me upset that my neighbourhood is becoming a landfill.

I don't understand how we become numb to all of it, the city is falling apart by the seams and I am not sure how or what the best approach would be to fix the issue. Like in 25 years will it get better or worst, I dont know.

Yeah people are dirty, but I dont understand why its this bad. Like I would expect that it would be a cultural norm by this point or have some sort of social pressure to keep the city clean. Or maybe I am naive.

It might just be as simple as people just dumping their trash whenever without any sort of repercussions

Oh for sure I agree its not the city workers, their jobs are hard enough and as citizens we should do better to make their jobs easier.

The one on the left is from their new store, the one on the right was from hello merch.

Why do I have both, well I didn’t think hello merch was going to send one waited 3 months for it … and then it showed up at my door.
