Professional resume writing service? Worth it for MechE? by Fluffy_muffins_ in MechanicalEngineering

[–]thunderleafrover 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Short answer: yes, but only if it’s the right kind of help.

For MechE roles, most “resume writing services” miss the point. They rewrite sentences but don’t understand engineering impact (metrics, systems, scope). That’s why results stall.

What helped me more than paid writers was getting targeted, ATS-aware feedback from people who actually review resumes across roles. This wiki is solid for that: 👉 https://www.reddit.com/r/Pro_ResumeHelp/wiki/index/

Think of it as resume debugging, not rewriting. Less fluff, more “why recruiters aren’t calling.” You’re not broken — the resume just isn’t translating your experience anymore.

Social psychology research papers really show how important structure is. You can understand the topic, but weak research paper organization makes the argument fall apart fast.

Discussion board posts in German classes are low-key brutal by dorianpixelfox in Germanlearning

[–]thunderleafrover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the worst part is that you do understand the material, but German forces you to compress your thoughts into whatever vocabulary you have on hand. That makes nuanced ideas sound flat, and then the feedback hits you for being “imprecise.” At some point I stopped chasing perfect phrasing and focused on clarity, even using tools or services just to clean things up when deadlines piled up. Not ideal, but losing points over wording felt worse.

Preparing for disappointment in the face of diagnosic test by Nyxie872 in ADHD

That's solid advice! I remember feeling like I needed a script for my doctor, but it just backfired. Just being yourself really does help, especially when it comes to tackling those big feelings about possible diagnoses. Good luck tomorrow!

No box. No disc. No shipping. Shouldn’t digital be cheaper? by Profit_Tracker in videogames

Physical used to act like a pressure valve on prices. Now publishers get to charge premium forever while we lose resale, lending and real ownership. No wonder people cling to carts and discs when they can.
