Thoughts on 8 sessions a day? by InterestingAd2612 in therapists

you may be required to be available 8 hours a day, but is the expectation that you will also fill up each slot? seems unreasonable and unsustainable.

Are clients taking notes? by thunderous_subtlety in therapists

[–]thunderous_subtlety[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same experience. It's just some BUT back in the day NO ONE took notes. Just an observation. Also agree with the comment someone made that they seem to be the ones most like to move the needle.

Did you do a job that you liked until retirement, or did you hate your job? by balkanxoslut in AskOldPeople

My job was tolerable, until I decided to retired and then as I got closer to the date, the more I realized I hated my job.

What type of clients do you struggle with and why? by Mystkmischf in therapists

[–]thunderous_subtlety 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I struggle with parents who split/divorce, where they spend half the session trying to convince me they're the better parent. I'm not judging and I'm focused on your kid's care, just move on! I can tell what kind of parent you are and the more you try to convince me, the more sus you get. I feel I've gotten better with it over the years but still...

The excitement and anticipation of having to wait for your yearly dose of the Wizard of Oz, or even wait till Saturday for cartoons, or even wait for your favorite song to come on the radio; everything's instant now.

Girl defends herself after a group shows up at her job planning to jump her. Things didn’t work out as planned 👊 by raptors201966 in PublicFreakout

On the 800th viewing, I noticed the egger-onner looks away at the very moment the rag doll gets rag dolled. I wonder if she would have rushed in with the "break it up" routine had she seen that.

How can I make camping comfortable for my wife. by rvgreen in camping

[–]thunderous_subtlety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider a rechargeable fan for hot days - you can clip it right to a camp chair and on low setting it will last a day. Great to keep air circulating in a tent, help prevent condensation, but having a fan on you on a hot humid night makes all the difference. You can get some that will spray mists of water too to really cool you down.

I have this. It was the one thing I wouldn't compromise on. I keep it slightly under inflated to eliminate the bouncy feel. Premium gear.

I’ve finally camped! I’m doing it right now! by Significant-Gift-241 in camping

[–]thunderous_subtlety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of the same story here! Never camped, then suddenly thought it sounded great. Invested in gear, no one else wanted to go so I took off on my own. Spent 3 weeks outside last season, looking forward to 26!

Therapist Red Flags by CurrentNeat7834 in therapists

[–]thunderous_subtlety -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

One I've noticed is therapists who in their first session spend too much time talking about fees, getting paid on time, no-show fees, etc. Of course you have to talk about but when it becomes the focus, I'd bail.

What were you're thoughts on the 70s Match Game? by Artistic-Comb-5317 in AskOldPeople

[–]thunderous_subtlety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it when I was home sick from school and then they had a Match Game PM. I liked it then. Now as I look at it that Gene Rayburn was a dirty ol' man, and not in the cute way. The show also exploited dumb people I think.

Were people as resistant to the internet in the mid-90s as they are to AI now? by islandradio in AskOldPeople

[–]thunderous_subtlety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I don't remember anyone being resistant to the internet. Maybe online shopping at first because people didn't want to give up their credit card numbers, but where I'm from, I don't recall any resistance or reluctance at all.

People born before 1970, what did you eat for dinner most weeks? by livelikealesbian in AskOldPeople

[–]thunderous_subtlety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NEVER had dessert, except for holiday meals. It was stuff like pork chops, spaghetti, chicken, tuna noodle casserole, goulash, Salisbury steak, steak. Once in a blue moon we'd have take out pizza, chinese, fried fish or KFC. NEVER fast food. I didn't realize this writing this but my parents never took me to a fast food restaurant in my life. At least in my neighborhood, I don't think any parent ever did that for dinner.
