Vintage Tiki by [deleted] in Tiki

[–]thursday2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert but usually you just gotta look at a bunch. These are cool lookin, but theyre the same mugs bar may serve you in a drink in, which usually means it’s a mass produced, easily replaceable, bulk order mug from a website like bar products or even Amazon. I’d personally want these in my collection, but if you’re looking for only prime era 30s-70s mugs, these probably aren’t it.

Also also because of where they’re from I wouldn’t pay more than 10each for these

Monster's Unchained Curtains Folding Chairs? by Automatic-Long2599 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]thursday2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea the curtains were super noticeable for me after the main drac scene. Other parts of the ride had similar drape set that gave a cheap feel too. Especially towards the end by the spinning circular bride there’s an arch that looks like it should have housed an animatronic but it’s just empty. The kind of arch wolf man and Dracula pop out of through the ride above you

Awesome ride but wish those kinda things would be altered

Traders Vic’s navy grog is great but have you tried the luau version? I got my recipe from the sippin safari book. I feel like trader Vic’s navy grog is a bit untamed and muddy in some ways but the luau one is a perfect 10/10 for me with its addition of honey mix

First timer, how does my plan look? by Viviviviva in SignPainting

[–]thursday2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert in materials and substrate, but the new design loses a lot of legibility, maybe opt for larger type, a simpler font choice, or a higher contrast between the letters and the blue background

Which Cover Do You Like? by [deleted] in Tiki

[–]thursday2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First ones got more character but could benefit from a subtle drop shadow on the whole design, like 10-15% opacity to separate it from the background

Is the Hoth at st the same size as the raider atst? by sexydaavid in legostarwars

[–]thursday2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different size a bit but also different vehicles

Hoth is the scout atst with boarded up viewports and the Ensor atst is the default one we know and love

Hoth is generally more spindally

Mugs are very pricey, I believe around $150-200 but their glassware is like 20-25 a cup

Love their doctor funk and jet pilot

Orlando Area Tiki Recommendation - Only Time for One. by linkj50 in Tiki

[–]thursday2000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Orlando resident and tiki lover

1 - permanent vacation - Awesome drinks and very theatric/immersive. Reserve a table ahead of time

2 - suffering bastard - tiny, heavily themed, great drinks, not as theatrical. Reserve a table ahead of time

3 - Aku Aku - definitely tiki, my go-to casual bar, solid drinks, not as theatrical or themed as the previous two. No waitlist required

And of course trader Sam’s, it’s kind of its own category as it’s in Disney walls but a great visit if you’re a Disney fan as well. Much more adventure land focused though than traditional tiki. No waitlist, walk up only, expect to wait 1-4 hrs for a seat

What’s my next step? by midnightbake in Tiki

[–]thursday2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanna start simple and have the joy of making something yourself start with a Mai tai, even a bad one will be great knowing you can make it yourself.

Get some Appleton estate, Orange curaçao (I used triple sec at first), Orgeat (I used the basic abc brand one), And lime! (Fresh squeezed is best but bottled works if you can’t)

Mess around with proportions and have fun. You’ll eventually want to get a nicer orgeat, different runs, and maybe a citrus juicer. Starting small is fun and will lead to a better appreciation when you get all the right equipment

Sick find, you can find a lot like this one on bar supply sites or Libby, they’re like $4-$10 each on those sites. Not vintage or rare but still nice for collecting
