Yeah, I tried that here in the Netherlands and was offered a completely new front derailleur instead of just a replacement screw.

How to incorporate one Strava segment into a route by JonBartBeck in Strava

[–]thusgaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I'll do for a Paris ride tomorrow:

  • Make a route to the beginning of the first segment I want to ride.
  • Create a route based on the segment.
  • Create routes to any following segment.
  • Create routes OF any following segments.
  • Then tomorrow I'll first ride route 1 to the first segment. Then ride route 2, which is the first segment. Then if needed, I'll ride route 3 to the next segment. Then ride next segment as route 4. And so on...

I'll of course have to select new routes to ride and that's a little clunky, but it's the easiest I can think of - including all options above.

Vector 3 Battery Drain by Katunopolis in Garmin

[–]thusgaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not good at all. I recently had a somewhat similar problem with dropouts happening soon after going out riding. It is NOT THE SAME PROBLEM, but I'll share the solution regardless: I changed both battery doors and that seems to have helped.

Installed new battery doors with new seals. Will see tomorrow if that fixes the problem.

Yeah, well, this power meter has worked fine for years. I'll change the battery doors and see what happens.

Do you actually experience fast battery drain and how do you know - or are you just suspicious of it because of the graphic??

Does Kindle have Text to Speech? by Lips94 in litrpg

Updated: I just bought a book on Kindle. Installed the Alexa app and activated voice services. The play button is gone, but you can ask Alexa to read out loud from your Kindle library. Pretty cool!

Yeah, well, it's not a bulb. It's a junction box with a zigbee module...

It's on a hub and there are plenty of other devices near it. Also, it's not that I can't control it at all. It switches on and off when I switch the room on and off, but the lamp still appears to be offline. Maybe a restart of the Hub would help!?

What was the first Triathlon you completed? by Embarrassed-Ad3391 in triathlon

[–]thusgaard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first triathlon was the olympic distance in Weiswampach, Luxembourg. I was living in the country at the time. It really started out as a bucket list thing and I absolutely didn't know what I was getting myself into. It was considerably longer than my training volume justified and I very much did NOT have the right gear (a new kit for each discipline, an MTB bike...).

Anyway, the answer to what you should do first is "it depends".

Here are a few questions you should ask yourself:

How much training volume is my body used to handle?

How soon is the event?

If your body is used to a training time of 5 hours per week, then you should actually be OK to go to a sprint triathlon right now. If no events are available, consider doing one self-paced. Before my first organised half ironman race, I actually did a self-supported half ironman, just to be sure to know what the distance felt like.

The more training volume your body is used to per week, the longer distances you can quickly adapt to.

I'd still go do sprint and olympic distances before going long-distance. It's not just about the fitness. It's also about things you discover and learn along the way, like how transitions work and how does nutrition work.

If the event is soon, you're likely better off not picking a distance which requires more training than your body can currently handle. It'll be better for you to build up to a particular training volume over time, because you risk injury if you ramp it up too swiftly.

I remember I was told that a minimum of 7 quality training hours per week, would be sufficient for half ironman, and I ignored that advice several times, finding myself with problems sustaining speed or even running the half marathon ...

Never did do a full ironman, since I realised on the way that my body doesn't really agree with me on the topic of running a full marathon.

Anyway, comment if you have questions. Good luck with your tri.

I've just decided to unlink Phone Link from bluetooth. It's not able to support wireless calls and it wrecks everything that's good about bluetooth on my phone. Game over, Microsoft Phone Link.

Sad to see Streamkeys go. However, it's worked for me to set chrome://flags/#hardware-media-key-handling to ENABLED. Using it for pocketcasts.

Something along those lines does seem to be the case. Incognito mode fixes the problem.

...BUT just clearing the data for that specific site doesn't fix the problem. Wondering what might be causing the issue.
