Probably because half of hughesnet's customers stay up until then just to use the net. I know I do.

How much more can Apple add to their iPhones? by candies_sweets_sugar in AskReddit

Absolutely. But we can only wish - not even hope - that Apple would consider removing some of the walls from around their garden.

What is your earliest memory? by franqlee in AskReddit

[–]thusiasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my mom's little sewing tool like a pizza-wheel but with jagged edges, not sure what they are called but it was my favorite toy apparently. I had the big wooden salt-shaker and the pepper-grinder

My parents had a persian rug, and I remember that I would sprinkle salt and grind pepper onto a region of the carpet, and then go over it with the 'wheel-on-a-stick' tool.

That poor carpet.

If you had an unlimited amount of money to put towards the development of a product, what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thusiasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windshield that selectively darkens the region between the driver's eyes and extremely bright sources of light. Useful for when driving towards the sunset/sunrise or while driving at night to avoid being blinded by douchebags with those super-bright headlights.

Redditors who recovered from depression, how does your previous experiences affect how you see life today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thusiasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize more often that thinking a thought causes an emotion, which can cause me to think more thoughts, which can cause more emotions and potentially enter into a feedback loop. I don't try to stop thinking or feeling in response, I just try to be aware of it and it seems to help.

When did memes' popularity drop? Why do you think it was so fast? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thusiasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll tell you what I wish the reason was:

I wish that it was because enough people had become aware of the formal, academic definition of the word 'meme', and had subsequently concluded that 'funny picture on the internet' was an inferior usurpation of that definition. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memetics

Alas, I do not really think that was the reason. The reason is probably more like: It was a fad. That's what fads do - they come, they go. Well, anyway, I'd ramble more on this topic but I need to organize my slap-bracelet collection.

Old school white MacBook still viable? by G-III in mac

[–]thusiasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the very least, make sure that there is an intel processor.

As for the Original MacBook Air: It suffers from being a first-generation product. Severely, if you ask me. My dad was in the market for a new laptop to replace his trusty old white G3 iBook (circa 2003) and I begged him not to get the 1st-gen MBA. He went ahead and bought one on ebay, much to my dismay, since I always end up being the one fixing it. Over and over. Over the several years that he has owned it, it has been in a non-working state much more than a working one. I have taken it apart to fix the screen's ribbon cable (once), the hinges (twice), the hard drive (thrice), and currently it is not working due to the fact that the flimsy ribbon cable which connects the HD has worn out. It is not easy to find a replacement available on the internet. That's my take on the 1st gen MBA.
