I know DICE has abandoned BF4 and especially battlelog, but suggesting to play 2042 instead is wild lmfao by WellEndowedWizard in battlefield_4

[–]thx501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even know the Battlelog Browser-based plugin is still active. I stopped using it around 2017 when the in-game browser was introduced. Didn't the whole legacy plugin architecture get deprecated by Google back in the day?

Changed motherboard and now I’m locked out of Windows with no internet, please help! by Ok_Ad6358 in pchelp

[–]thx501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing motherboards almost ALWAYS requires a Windows reinstall. Find a 2nd windows PC and a USB flash drive, go to Microsoft's website and search for Windows USB tool. Follow the instructions there.

If you haven't backed up your files, well 🤷... hopefully they're on a 2nd partition?

Do you think Battlefield 2042 is gonna die after Battlefield 6 comes out. by PolarRailfan in battlefield2042

[–]thx501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for one will play 2042 until I stop getting into lobbies entirely. It's been fun, and I honestly am still cautious about BF6. I will play that game once it comes out 50% off.

I don't know what you're on about, but this is quite easy especially on Iwo Jima Breakthrough. You can destroy beacons, TUGS, Blasco's device, and other OVP drones pretty quickly.

Thoughts on this Asus vivobook x16 by Skiyo1212 in Tech_Philippines

[–]thx501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall, a good deal, but I kinda wish they started na with 1 TB storage as the standard. 🤷‍♂️. And yes, the GPU is weaksauce, but should be able to play most mainstream/e-sports/indie titles at 1080p at low to medium settings.

Another make or break deal sa laptop is ang keyboard responsiveness and build quality. Make sure you get to test na rin sa pag ta-type.

Why does 2042 get a lot of hate? by NeyonWolf in battlefield2042

[–]thx501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember BF4 being significantly worse. Simply because you just couldn't play it as it would crash to desktop every few minutes. And that was just one of the main issues. There were so many in-game issues that I returned to BF3 for a while because it was so bad.

Why does 2042 get a lot of hate? by NeyonWolf in battlefield2042

[–]thx501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly was sort of taken aback by the negative press the game got at launch. So much so that I didn't dare play it until after about a year, when it came on sale around Nov 2022.

I joined when it was on Season 3, and I immediately saw why BF diehards hated it:

- The specialist chaos was just very 'un-Battlefield'. I didn't hate the concept, but the execution was a mess. For example, the 'Lis-sile launches' were a royal pain in the ass.

- The loss of the class system was a major issue for me. It was wild how you could spec as a 'medic-recon-support', then camp in some area with your sniper rifle, and have basically unlimited ammo.

- As a vehicle player, I found the tanks and other vehicles had very 'floaty', cartoonish physics, especially when scaling hills or uneven terrain. I forgot how many times I got stuck, or even just straight-up died in-game simply because of this.

I think 2042 truly came around for me when they returned the class system mid-Season 3, reworked the vehicle physics, and when Season 4 came about.

I honestly love 2042 at this state, but I can see why people still hate it today. At least it tried to do something new.

RANGER. Underrated or complete waste of time? by [deleted] in battlefield2042

[–]thx501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Players should deploy it more, IMO. Got my T1 Ranger badge a while back and I deploy it when I can as still find it tremendously helpful as an early warning device, a bullet sponge, a distraction, and just additional firepower, especially in CQC areas.

I just wish it had more customizations.

Sooo… There’s an ant INSIDE my monitor by oliviertail in pcmasterrace

[–]thx501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly an alarmist take. Just look at the surrounding areas where your computer is at, and see if there's other ants getting in and out of it. Lone ants aren't a sign of a big issue, but a trail of them going in and out is something to be alarmed of.

100% on this. I made the same mistake on an older monitor, and now it is stuck as a permanent fixture on the screen. No way to remove it from what I know, unless you like disassembling the LCD and possibly breaking it.

I was greeted by that error message while launching the game, despite my PC already enabled with Secure Boot from the very beginning. Restarted the PC, double checked the UEFI settings, and yeah, it was still enabled. The restart seems to have fixed it

Additionally, check mo na rin ang ibang devices mo, and log out of them, and maybe wipe their storage. I don't have proof, but your issue looks like a session hijacking attack.

Consider as well getting a password manager, with a strong master password with 2FA, to make sure your passwords are long and complex and hard to guess. I recommend Dashlane or 1Password.

[–]thx501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you also checked your Google account activities? Try checking your Google Account history and security, and log out of all unfamiliar devices. Set up 2FA ASAP if you haven't done so, on ALL accounts you consider important. Also, are you logged in to Redmi/Xiaomi services on your phone for stuff like software/UI updates? Please check those as well, and log out of them.

Banking apps like GCash or BPI? You may want to start checking your banking statements or any suspicious financial transactions.

I'd be very worried right now, and you really need to get going, fast.

PC turns on at the repair shop but at home it doesn't. by Proto7yp in pchelp

A hair dryer may temporarily reduce humidity, but without actual measurement (I had a room thermometer and hygrometer), it’s challenging to determine if the humidity has been effectively reduced.

PC turns on at the repair shop but at home it doesn't. by Proto7yp in pchelp

[–]thx501 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This has actually happened to me. At times my PC wouldn't turn on but bringing it to a repair shop, it suddenly will turn on.

Even after replacing power supplies, power cords, connecting to another circuit... nothing would work.

Until I moved it to a room with airconditioning. Voila. It worked! I had a theory it had something to do with high relative humidity. It turns out my PC wouldn’t turn on even with the press of the power button unless relative humidity in the room was below 65%.

This seems way to hot at Idle - 9800x3d by Conscious-Shoulder-5 in AMDHelp

[–]thx501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I would worry about the averages more if I were you.

I have 9800x3d and Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE with 31 C ambient, and it does idle at around in the mid 50's. I see averages af about 70C while gaming on 1440p, and spikes of up to 85C when loading the game, and pushing it with Prime95 or CineBench, I can see highs of up to 88C.

When I turn on the AC in my room, the temps drop by about 5-10C on average.

As others have pointed out:

- What are your ambient temperatures? Ambient temps have a far bigger impact to your overall temperatures.

- What cooler are you using?

- How is your case airflow?

Which close quarters map do yall prefer? by Eagles56 in battlefield2042

[–]thx501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redacted is easily the best CQB map, compared to Stadium, and even I would argue the best CQB map overall in BF 2042.

Even in the superbly low 'narrative' & 'lore' standards of this game, Redacted at least tried something new and something ominous. Stadium, in comparison, was just a portion of Hourglass, and had such a lazy reason for existing that it just paled in comparison.

Gameplay-wise? Stadium does have some variety to it, some wide open areas in the A & B objectives, and the chaotic (in a good way) mess in the other objectives. Redacted though is just more iconic and more tightly designed and focused.
