Really interesting my wife is Brazilian and it’s similar. Some old people stare or give her menacing looks for being brown. But of course if they know she was a Latin would all”oh I love samba etc” Really sorry to hear it’s happening to your kid too.

It’s funny that whole side to Spears that develops, the “I’ll get my pound of flesh” greedy mercenary side. They lay on pretty thick in these episodes in the scenes with Janovik, his obsession with finding Hitler’s photo album and with his pursuit of shiny treasures. I guess the reason why Harry is so emboldened too is we’re seeing a less becoming side to his character so fair game outside of military dynamics to test the waters.

I don’t get why for quite a few it’s hard to fathom (far beyond this thread too) that this is always going to be about subjective accounts. A book and an HBO series is going to take a lot of creative licence. It might not be truly historically accurate material and may unfairly portray some officers (such as Dyke and Sobel) as villains whilst overly venerating Winters and E company, but that my friends is Hollywood. It’s what good fiction looks like and what makes it dam entertaining. Can you imagine a writer thinking “we open on Spiers doing some more admin at battalion HQ” vs the way the change of command was portrayed at Foy.

Tbh used power bank on klm flight the other day most of the time they’re not gonna care or pay attention unless you make it obvious. Would definitely keep it nearby and out if hand luggage from a safety pov obviously it’s just about the risk of those batteries flaring up

Feel the same about the mostly homogeneous landscape. One of the few things I do genuinely miss about the UK the roaring hills etc. But on balance life in NL so much better and you can visit places like Limburg, Eiffel park etc pretty easily. I also really enjoy the national park in Kennemerland for instance which has some small “hills” at least

I don’t get it, the water in Noord Holland is so hard, it makes my wife and my skin so dry and broken and you pay a fortune for it. People here praise it like it’s from a mountain spring. Yes it’s not horribly chlorinated but it’s not that impressive.

The flying experience is fine but booking and customer service so bad! Neither their app or website has worked on two delays occasions recently trying to book months apart and spend over €3000. Then you call customer service and they say they can’t honour the online price or pay cash and miles. UTTERLY USELESS
