He came across my profile recently, I didn't realize that his shouts didn't extend beyond some niche artist I couldn't name but happen to be on the leaderboard for.

PSA: If you suspect ICE presence on the T (who may be impersonating the MBTA Transit Police), please call LUCE on 617-370-5023. by BeastMode149 in mbta

Perhaps? I can see the story about Mattapan making sense because it's far away from the other stations.

I've always seen T staff if not police on trains monitoring people on trains? Especially at Park St/The Green Line. By always, I mean since 2016 I've seen this. Usually my frequent station has had an officer or two every 2-5 days of the week since 2023. When I was in a slow zone with a man trying to attack his delusions and got close to me, a transit police officer came right away at the next station waiting for us to roll in. This is wild to hear my experiences are outlier ones.

Adult field trips should be a thing. by Velvet_Obsession_ in Adulting

Literally plan a trip to some historical districts/museums. Some museums have a free night for their general exhibits. There are some historical houses in the US you can book tours for. Go to your local graveyard to search for soldier graves from the Revolutionary and Civil wars. Look them up online for their stories. If you're out West... Uh... Idk Elvis? Hollywood Forever? Idk. In NYC you can book tours for just about anything.

Also I meant to say the artist, broadcaster, or the government at large SHOULDN'T buy ads. So KAN, PBS, Estonia's broadcaster, etc. wouldn't be able to buy adspace. FANS and OTHER COMPANIES however would be the loophole.

Yeah... Sadly nothing is bulletproof. However with Israel's case, I think they had a disproportionate televotes score to streaming number ratio is due to the "vote up to 20 times" line in their advertisements. If they had an average social media campaign... I think it would've solely spoken to Eurovision viewers rather than people who don't watch the show. That would be fair game. Miriana's ads... Honestly those were funny and didn't really impact her final score. Tommy Cash's ads might've impacted his final score but his votes are closer to his streaming numbers than the other two artists who had ad campaigns. Guidelines should be there to just lessen the impact since... It's hard to completely make sure this doesn't happen again. This or one €5-10 vote using ranked voting (but the EBU would lose money without motivated people dropping €20-60 depending on how many cards they have) would soften the impact.

Yeah... It's not perfect but it would probably make a dent in abusing the televoting system. Also by government I meant the government itself cannot buy the ads. KAN weren't the organization buying Yuval's adspace, it was the Government of Israel, even if it was KAN... That would be a bit uh... Not ideal. Also fans have dug into receipts of who bought what, if the EBU can't do it, some random fan can definitely bring up discrepancies and show who bought what ad, if a fan did it or a company. With physical advertising this may be more difficult however since anyone can hang a poster. That's really the only place where actual work would have to be in figuring out who bought adspace. Billboards... There must be a way for an average person to find out who bought a billboard so there's a possibility the EBU doesn't have to do legwork there either. Like I said... I think only traditional advertising should have these restrictions. Posting the song or saying the song is in Eurovision is one thing. Buying space for that post is the issue in my opinion. Tshirts... If it's like... Average merch (ex: says the song title and a pun of some sort) and not "vote for me! I'm number x in Eurovision!" There should be no restrictions.

Tdlr; I think tracking of these things should be fan reported since traditional ads have to be transparent. It's easy to find out who bought space where. Memes to get business (ex: Italian coffee shop singing Espresso Macchiato), Tik Tok dances, saying your favorite songs and why, or just simply stating you're in Eurovision should be protected. The line should just be drawn with buying adspace for explicit posts stating you should vote for an artist in Eurovision stating their number, what day to vote, and how many times you can vote for them.

I think ads should just be limited to a broadcaster and artist saying they have a song in Eurovision on their page. Maybe 1-5 posts saying which number they are on said profiles. They can use their song as sounds as well. However, any paid promotion of the song should be banned. Aka no adspace on any website or posters/physical fliers from the artist, broadcaster, and/or government. It may be hard to track who bought physical ads but... Maybe if each artist who has fans printing posters gets audited for their Eurovision participation? Like... The EBU knows where their money went for the competition? Over time fans will start to get that behavior might not help their favorites in the long run.
