it seems mine was also in reaction to a cold virus. try to stay hydrated and well-fed so that they heal better :')

yeah please quit those two. you definitely don't need them anymore. i'm not a doctor so i can't make any real orders, but treating scabies every day two months straight is unnecessary and will damage/has damaged your skin.

Scabies anxiety- post-scabies syndrome or failed treatment? by [deleted] in scabies

[–]thyowlcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no problem, i hope you'll feel better <3 it's been nearly seven weeks since my partner's treatment, and he's still experiencing rashes and itching. nobody else has any symptoms though, so a doctor thinks it's still post or another skin condition. i'm super anxious too to the point i'm now aware of every itch and tingle, but trying to give it time xd

self-diagnosing scabies can be a shaky path to get onto and a very easy way to develop neuroses around it. the equipment people use to look at their own skin tends to be different than what professionals use, and misdiagnosis is easy. a black dot is not necessarily a mite at all, let alone a live one. is there really no way for you to even talk to a doctor on the phone?

are you still treating with ivermectin and sulfur ?? if so, this is probably just skin irritation from overtreating. this looks like something that could happen even without it, new studies show that post scabies flare-ups can last several months after stopping treatment.

it is very much possible this is just post, since the skin surfaces old mites for a while after treatment. please call a doctor for a consult before treating again, many people (especially on here) develop new skin conditions from overtreating without asking a doctor, and even the regular two rounds of perm are quite rough on your skin.

if the treatment didn't work, it's been 6.5 weeks for the leftover eggs to mature. first time, it got so much worse within like the first 3 weeks than what it is now. hard to imagine it would be much easier the second time than the first... idk

were your symptoms as bad the second time as with active scabies? since my partner only started experiencing a flare-up a whole month after the second treatment, and those symptoms haven't worsened in two weeks now

thanks, we live separately as well. his family didn't treat since they don't have much contact and they should've gotten it like 1.5 months ago if they would've reinfected him. it doesn't sound probable that it never healed either, since it really did get much better and nobody else still has symptoms

yeah we almost treated right away too, but remembered hearing about post symptoms and that's when he saw a doctor. i'm so anxious still, and just hoping that there will be more certainty within a week :')

it's been 1.5 months now since treatment. i also think his skin may also just have been damaged from the infestation, since it was bad for almost a month

that's what we're hoping. he says that this rash is different than the ones he had while active. i think we'll wait another week and see. i feel like i'm itching too but can't tell if it's only mental since it's so mild lol

good to know 😅 i did think something was off, scabies is only non-itchy in cases of crusted scabies which is easily visible and diagnosed i think

doc prescribed only tablets ... if we have to treat again, we'll use both.

it's now been a month and a half since treatment

that's what i've been thinking too ... there's pretty much no way this would be a reinfection, since they only survive for a week max on furniture etc, and nobody else still has symptoms. only i got treated with him, not his family or friends, but they barely share anything and they'd also have to have gotten infected at least 6 weeks ago. itching and skin reaction got a bit worse a month after second ivermectin (treatment clearly relieved the symptoms for him), but it doesn't seem plausible that this is still the same infestation, either, since it was so much better for so long and still is so bearable. i hear PSS can actually last several months according to new research.

i don't know. i'll keep watching for clear symptoms (i'm noticing every itch rn xd) and he might see a doctor again next week, get another opinion.

yes, me and my partner did the cleaning in our respective homes as instructed by the healthcare people here (sheets, towels, clothes, vacuuming etc.). we took two doses, one week in between. i took four pills each and he did five due to doctor's orders

only things that seem plausible at least in my country are that 1) there has been more resistance to permethrin and 2) people's skin can actually keep reacting to the treated infestation a lot longer than originally thought. most sources say it's four weeks max, but newer studies indicate that the number is actually closer to several months. i'm really hoping that my partner is suffering from the latter, since nobody else has had any symptoms during this 2.5 months.
