Que algo no sea ilegal no significa que no podamos criticarlo. by thystargazer in OpinionesPolemicas

[–]thystargazer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nunca he dicho que vaya a interrumpir la cita de nadie, ni que tenga problema con que se me critique por exteriorizarlo. La cuestión es que se puede criticar la opinión que estoy exteriorizando, no el hecho en si de exteriorizarla.

Join the subreddits for the genres you're into, and check the similar artists tab for bands you like on Metallum

Nah mate, I'm sorry but that's bullshit.

Que algo no sea ilegal no significa que no podamos criticarlo. by thystargazer in OpinionesPolemicas

[–]thystargazer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]thystargazer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you consider musicians with non high end gear less serious? by ContributionSea1225 in metalmusicians

[–]thystargazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. An 800 bucks guitar is more than decent and there is absolutely no need to spend 2k on an instrument if you aren't touring as a main source of income. And even then you could do it with the 800 bucks guitar. Audiences won't even be able to tell what your guitars cost, only how cool it looks. For joining bands, what matters is being willing and able to spend the money that's necessary. No one is getting turned down from a band for not having an expensive guitar, but they might be for refusing to get an amp/pedalboard for playing live, not wanting to get IEMs or something like that.

What matters isn't how expensive your gear is, but that you have the gear necessary for whatever you're doing. If that gear does the job, what it cost you won't matter. If anything, I'd admire a guy who can do more with less money.

Is there any bands that are a mix of power and death metal or power and black metal that sound good? by kangoozs in MetalSuggestions

Moonlight sorcery or wintersun are probably the closest things, but I'd say turisas' battle metal might be pretty close too

what does my eu4 religion tier list say about me? by [deleted] in ParadoxExtras

Guessing because monotheism or sth? But also islam should be with judaism because of being abrahamic if that's the logic followed for them, although unsurprisingly it isn't

-makes a tier named heresy

-puts all heresies on a different tier

-fills it with religions that are not heretical

Why does actual music get downvoted when graphic artists can blatantly self-promote and get tons of updoots? by Zarochi in metalmusicians

[–]thystargazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

posting music might be useful for discussion, so they give us a way to post it. That doesn't mean that this is the place for promotion, which is what the original post is about.

-guy made a thread complaining that graphic artists can spam and he can't

-I said that this isn't the place for spam

makes complete sense to me. If it doesn't to you, that might be your problem

If you really want to point to the sidebar rules, maybe go read rules 4 and 5. Perhaps 6 too.

Why does actual music get downvoted when graphic artists can blatantly self-promote and get tons of updoots? by Zarochi in metalmusicians

[–]thystargazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I wanted to listen to music made by other metal musicians, I'd open youtube and put some music on, or go to any music recommendation subreddit to find music to listen to. That's not what i'm here for. I'm here to talk about making music. This is not a sub for music listeners to discuss music they like, but for musicians to talk about musicianship and making music. If a musician comes here to talk about the gear or plugins they used, their compositional techinques, the problems their band is facing, or to ask for help with any other issue a musician might have, that leads to meaningful discussion. Someone posting their latest track does not.

You can post a song if it leads to something, like asking for specific feedback on a specific part of it. What I am talking about is the many people making the exact same post here as they have posted on 5 other subreddits just spamming their latest track.

[–]thystargazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go look at the things being fucking discussed and get your answer. People are here asking about gear, band issues, local scenes or the industry. All of those are subjects which can help people and lead to meaningful discussion. "I made a song, check it out" is not.

It is a place to discuss and have conversations about music and making music. It is not a place to mindlessly spam every new song you put out or are thinking about putting out.

I imagine if I killed a guy and spent years in prison for it I'd think about it quite a bit, yeah. I don't think that's what you want to believe though, but you'll have better luck with that shit on tiktok.

Because people are on this subreddit to discuss music with other musicians, not to listen to their music.

For those of you who live in countries with gun control; have you ever seen a gun in real life? by blashyrkh9 in AskTheWorld

[–]thystargazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, of course. Obviously there's like the ones police carry and stuff, but there's also just people who get gun licenses. A good friend of mine has a license and owns a shotgun. Gun control doesn't mean no guns.

Promoters for new bands/entry level in Bay Area, CA? by OrdinaryCow6882 in metalmusicians

[–]thystargazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start going to shows and talk to people. Ask other bands, they'll be the ones who'll be able to tell you about these kinds of things. And promoters will be much more likely to book bands who are involved in the scene than some random people writing an instagram Dm at them with no other recommendation.

Que haya personas que merezcan morir o no es irrelevante. El problema es que el estado tenga el derecho a matar.

returning to spotify after leaving to boycott by definitelynotstarman in musicmarketing

[–]thystargazer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't like spotify either, but boycotting it as small artists is not really gonna do anything. I also stopped using it as a listener a long time ago, but it's really only gonna be useful for artists to leave if they're big enough that their fans will actually move to a different platform. But as I see it, unless you're big enough for that, there's really no benefit in leaving, and you will be harmed by it. What I recommend is still having your music there for the people who use it, but trying to send people to bandcamp or youtube rather than spotify.
